Modern Gansu Society In The Context Of Vernacular History

Under the impetus of the educational reform of the New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty,the central government promulgated the "Catalogue of Localities" and ordered each province to compile localities to serve as textbooks for school children.In this context,the governor of Gansu was ordered by the bull to order the states and counties to compile the local history book.At the end of the Qing dynasty,Gansu compiled by the local history book has been scattered,the existing local history book has eight.First of all,the "countryside zhi examples" as the outline of the local compilation of countryside zhi document,the compilation of the countryside zhi style.The eight rural history books in Gansu are not all compiled in accordance with the style of the "Rural History Catalogue",among which "Chongxin County Rural History" and "Dunhuang County Rural History" are compiled in accordance with the traditional style of zhi.Secondly,from the compilation of the content of the text of Gansu countryside,there are new and old,including military records,political records,the contents of the old records are taken from the old records.While the school,police patrol,human,religion,business,goods and other aspects of the content are after investigation to obtain information,has a high historical value,can reflect the changes in modern Gansu grassroots society.In addition,from the point of view of ideological orientation,Gansu vernacular history book inherited the traditional ethical thought resources contained in the old records,including the respect for the ruler and patriotism,the sage and saintly thought.Finally,the compilation group of Gansu vernacular history is basically composed of officials and gentry,who are the local intellectual elite,and also the master of local knowledge.The cognitive structure and ideological changes of this group will be reflected to some extent in the textual content of the vernacular history books.
