Research On The Application Of Symbols In Painting Creation

Since the 20 th century,Western modern artists have gradually denied or even abandoned the expression means of traditional reproduction art from the beginning of post-impressionism.In their paintings,they have tried to open the distance between art and real life,pay attention to the application of symbols in art creation,and have the tendency of artistic symbolization.The symbols in paintings are not only meaningful visual images,but also the externalization of artists ’ subjective thoughts and emotions,showing symbolic,emotional and metaphorical characteristics.With the development of the times,the use of symbols in painting creation has become commonplace and has become a major trend in the development of contemporary art.Taking the symbols in paintings as the starting point,this paper analyzes the performance of symbols in classic works of art,focuses on the application of symbols in painting creation in combination with the author ’s own creative practice,discusses the important role of symbols in painting creation,and provides useful experience for the application of symbols in contemporary painting creation.
