The peer relationship of college students is an important part of their interpersonal relationships,which has an important impact on the mental health status,personality formation and socialization of individuals.The importance of establishing peer education systems in more and more colleges and universities shows its importance.Psychological research also mainly focuses on the psychological impact of the formed peer relationship on the individual college student,and there is still little research on how the individual represents the concept of peer relationship at the psychological cognitive level.Conceptual metaphor theory holds that people use concrete perceptual motion experience to represent and understand abstract and complex concepts,which provides a research perspective for the processing of abstract concepts.Previous studies have confirmed from the conscious level that college students represent the concept of peer relationship through the internal and external positions of the specific container space,but the psychological reality of the unconscious level and the mapping direction of the two have not been detected,and the psychological representation mechanism of college students representing the concept of peer relationship has not been fully revealed.Therefore,based on the assumptions of metaphor extraction theory,this study improves the processing depth of container spatial perceptual information,investigates the psychological reality and mapping direction of the container metaphor connection of college students’ peer relationship concept,reveals the psychological cognitive mechanism of college students to represent the concept of peer relationship,and then provides empirical support for the hypothesis theory of metaphorical extraction.This study explores the influence of perceptual processing depth on the psychological reality of college students’ peer relationship concept and its mapping direction through three experiments.Experiment 1 adopts the spatial stroop paradigm,by dividing the spatial position of the container into circle-out-circle,and the college students’ peer relationship words into high intimate peer words and low intimate sibling words,the experimental design of 2(vocabulary category: high intimate sibling words/low intimate sibling words)×and 2(container space: internal/external)is used in the experiment to detect the existence of the psychological reality of the metaphorical connection between the two from the target domain to the origin domain.It is found that the interaction between the two is not significant,indicating that the metaphorical connection between the concept of peer relationship and the space inside and outside the container is not detected under this experiment.Experiment 2 adopts the starting paradigm,the experimental material and spatial position are divided into the same as experiment 1,and the experiment uses 2(perceptual processing depth: shallow/deeper)× 2(vocabulary category: high intimate peer words/low intimate sibling words)× 2(container space:internal/external)The three-factor experimental design of the participant investigated the influence of container space position information on the direction mapping of the target domain to the origin domain in the container metaphor connection of college students’ peer relationship under the starting conditions of two different container space processing depths.In the perceptual processing task with shallow container space,only the participants are required to classify and judge the appearance of letters,and what letters appear are pressed according to the corresponding letter key,while in the perceptual processing task with deep container space,the participants are also required to make specific judgments on the internal and external positions of the container space of the letters,so that the participants can deeply process the relationship between the internal and external positions of the letters and the circle.The results show that under the task of shallow container space perception processing depth,the interaction between the concept of peer relationship and the position inside and outside of container space is not significant,and the result is the same as that of experiment 1.However,under the condition of deep processing depth,the interaction between the two is significant.The results show that under the condition of deep perceptual processing depth,there is a psychological reality of the metaphorical connection of college students’ peer relationship container from the target domain to the origin domain.Experiment 3 adopts the starting paradigm,the division of experimental materials and spatial position is the same as experiment 1,and the division of shallower and deeper perceptual processing tasks of container space is the same as experiment 2.The experiment used 2(perceptual processing depth: shallow/deeper)× 2(vocabulary category: high intimate peer words/low intimate sibling words)×2(container space: internal/external)three-factor internal experimental design to investigate the influence of the sibling relationship concept of college students on the mapping of the metaphorical connection of the sibling relationship container connection from the origin domain to the target domain under the conditions of shallow and deep container spatial perceptual processing depth.The results show that under the task of shallow container space perception processing depth,the interaction between the concept of peer relationship and the position inside and outside of container space is not significant.However,under the condition of deep processing depth,the interaction between the two is significant.The results show that under the condition of deep perceptual processing depth,there is a psychological reality of the metaphorical connection of the container of college students’ peer relationship from the origin domain to the target domain.In summary,this study concludes the following:(1)There is psychological reality in the metaphorical connection of college students’ peer relationship container,and the specific metaphorical connection is:inside the container-high intimate peer relationship,outside the container-low close peer relationship,and the metaphorical mapping of the two is two-way mapping.(2)The perceptual processing depth of container space can promote the extraction and mapping of the existence of container metaphorical connections between college students.
