Previous studies have shown that loud, fast and major music induces positive emotions, while slow and minor music induces negative emotions. Some researchers have explored the relationship between music loudness and social rejection, and found that individuals who feel social exclusion will show a preference for louder loudness and louder music can significantly reduce the negative emotions caused by social rejection. However, this study did not further explore whether louder music will have an impact on the behaviors of rejected individuals. This study focuses on the relationship between music and social exclusion.Based on the existing research that music loudness can regulate the negative emotions caused by social exclusion,it further explores whether music loudness, tempo and mode can regulate the negative emotions induced by social exclusion.Does it have an effect on behavior after social exclusion? In order to solve the above problems, three two-factor experiments were designed in this study, and subjects without more than six months of musical experience were selected.Experiment 1 adopted a two-factor intra-test design of 2(social situation: social exclusion;social acceptance)×2(music loudness: loudness music;low loudness music)were used to explore the influence of music loudness on perceived social exclusion.Experiment 2 adopted a two-factor intra-test design of 2(social situation: social exclusion;social acceptance)×2(music tempo: fast music;slow music)were used to explore the influence of music speed on perceived social exclusion.Experiment 3 adopted a two-factor intra-test design of 2(social situation:social exclusion;social acceptance)× 2(music mode: major music;minor music)were used to explore the influence of music mode on perceived social exclusion. Each experiment first used the Asian Youth Social Inclusion/Exclusion Image Database(ISIEA)to induce the emotion of social exclusion, and then adjusted the loudness, speed, and tone of the music.SAM scale was used to measure emotional titer and emotional arousal, and the sum value of four need dimensions in the need threat time model and the behavioral tendency test after social rejection were used to evaluate the social rejection emotions and behaviors before picture induction, after picture induction and after music adjustment. The experimental results showed that:(1)Music loudness could alleviate social exclusion and the negative emotions caused by social exclusion.Compared with low-loudness music, loudness music can better alleviate individuals’ negative emotions caused by social rejection, and individuals who feel social rejection after listening to loudness music tend to actively seek reconciliation.(2)Music tempo could alleviate the feelings of social exclusion and the negative emotions caused by social exclusion, and listening to fast music had a better relief effect than slow music. And individuals who felt socially excluded were more likely to actively seek reconciliation after listening to fast music.(3)Music mode can alleviate the sense of social exclusion and the negative emotions caused by social exclusion, and major and minor music can change the behavior of individuals who feel social exclusion, and the behavior is more inclined to seek reconciliation, but it has nothing to do with the musical mode.
