In recent years, the state has attached great importance to the construction of national mental health. In the educational system, adolescent mental health has become the focus of increasing attention.More and more educators are aware of the importance of building positive personality among teenagers. With the growth of age, junior high school students face gradually increasing academic content and pressure. The positive personality can help students deal with various difficulties in learning effectively, relieve learning anxiety, and improve their academic level.Growth thinking is a way of thinking which believes that the ability can be improved with hard work.Growth thinking is a positive personality quality, which can affect English learning performance through academic self-efficacy and English learning anxiety. On the basis of previous research, this study mainly explores three questions: firstly, study the overall level of the growth thinking, academic self-efficacy and English learning anxiety for junior high school students and the demographic factors that will affect them;secondly, explore the relationship between growth thinking, academic self-efficacy,English learning anxiety and English learning performance of junior high school students;thirdly, put forward some specific educational countermeasures and suggestions from the perspective of positive educational psychology. In this study, the "Growth Thinking Scale" compiled by Dweck et al.,the "Academic Self-Efficacy Scale" compiled by Liang Yusong, and the "Chinese Version of the Foreign Language Anxiety Scale" revised by Wang Caikang were used to sample students from Quanzhou.A total of 484 Junior high school students participated in the survey.Using correlation analysis method, the researcher analyzes the relationship between growth thinking, academic self-efficacy,English learning anxiety and English learning performance of junior high school students, and explores the mediating role of academic self-efficacy,English learning anxiety between growth thinking and English learning performance. From a variable-centered perspective,I build a model to explore the relationship between growth thinking and English performance of junior high school students and its internal mechanism.Research indicates:1.The growth mindset( =3.71)and academic self-efficacy( =3.14)of junior high school students in this survey are both at the upper middle level, and their English learning anxiety( =2.63)is at the lower middle level.Growth mindset was significantly positively correlated with academic self-efficacy(r=0.43,p<0.01),and significantly negatively correlated with English learning anxiety(r=-0.33,p<0.01).2.There is no significant difference in the growth mindset of junior high school students in terms of gender, grade, and parental education level, and individual growth mindset is less affected by demographic factors;but in terms of English learning anxiety, the study found that the anxiety level of girls is significantly higher than boys, the level of test anxiety was the highest.3.The growth mindset cannot directly affect the English performance of junior high school students, but improves the individual’s academic self-efficacy,thereby reducing English learning anxiety,so as to achieve the improvement of English performance.(Effect estimate=0.033(0.042),S.E.=0.013,95% C.I.=[0.017,0.086])4.Based on the research results, this thesis puts forward the following countermeasures and suggestions:(1)Carefully design classrooms to cultivate students’ growth thinking;(2)Patiently coach students and relieve English learning anxiety in a timely manner;(3)Carefully discover and find the shining points in students’ learning;(4)Carefully evaluate students and pay attention to academic self-efficacy.
