Abstract/Summary:
Information graphic design is dedicated to transforming various types of information into graphic information that is more recognizable to humans. Its concept is in other disciplines including design discipline and organizational research. However,as a research object in the field of design, information graphics design has received limited attention in the field of linguistics, and there is no specific research method. This paper is devoted to perspective innovation, and discusses the application of multimodal discourse analysis in information graphic design through theoretical innovation and practical innovation.Research includes conceptual cognition,by examining whether information graphic design in the field of design can more effectively convey information to audiences through the theoretical framework of multimodal discourse analysis. This study reviews Halliday’s theory of systemic functional linguistics and draws on the work of researchers including Chris and van Leuven on visual grammar theory,as well as the symbolic relationship between language and visual imagery studied by Martin,Ross, and others. This paper explores the role of enhancing the information transmission of the Oriental Metropolitan Museum’s guide map under multimodal discourse analysis. In addition, the author analyzes effective communication methods while studying the background and current situation of the Oriental Metropolitan Museum, and the Oriental Metropolitan Museum can adopt correct tour strategies through theoretical analysis to inform and promote the audience’s sense of experience, while effectively acquiring information. In addition, this paper adopts a methodology that combines theoretical models and psychological experiments, and makes use of the author’s first field research on the Oriental Metropolitan Museum in the early stage, and through online and offline questionnaires,to reflect on the audience visiting the Oriental Metropolitan Museum. What kind of stimulation is needed in the process of museum tour and how to solve it through the perspective of multimodal discourse analysis, and through three methods, including the presentation of the overall structure of the museum;the drawing of adult and children’s paper tour maps;through the construction of virtual space There are three ways to let tourists have an immersive tour experience, trying to increase the audience’s interest in the tour design of the Oriental Metropolitan Museum and enhance its use efficiency through a multi-pronged approach. The main outcome of this research is the integration of information graphics design under the theory of multimodal discourse analysis, which can be used by museum designers and curators as an advance research to enhance the interactive experience of the audience. At the end of the paper, some further research ideas on the design of the guide map of the Oriental Metropolitan Museum are put forward, but it is difficult to realize due to the reality and technical conditions. Therefore, this study still has the possibility of further exploration.
