Nan Hao Shi Hua is the most widely circulated work of Du Mu,a scholar in the middle of the Ming Dynasty. There are 79 poems in total, and it has made great achievements in the elucidation of poetics and the preservation of documents. This paper puts it in the thoughts of imitating ancient poetry of respecting Tang in Ming Dynasty, and discusses it from the aspects of creation theory and poet theory. The introduction summarizes the background, present situation and methods of this paper. The first chapter introduces Du Mu’s family history, life and friends, sorts out the versions of Nan Hao Shi Hua,compares and points out the differences between the three existing versions, and investigates the writing background of Nan Hao Shi Hua.In the middle of Ming Dynasty, the poetics thought of "living in Tang Dynasty and living in ancient times" became the mainstream, but the Wu Zhong region where Du Mu lived showed more true literary styles. His sentiment-oriented poetry was deeply influenced by the literary atmosphere of Wu Zhong. The second chapter studies the poetics of Nan Hao Shi Hua.Du Mu talked about the main emotion of poetry, took the integration of scenes as the essential premise of poetry creation, emphasized the truth and reality of poetry writing, believed that poetry should be made with the heart, the realization of the "truth",and the pursuit of amazing and natural punchline. In addition,he also advocated that poetry be noble and honest, and his "loyalty and kindness" was not limited to the scope of Confucian ethics but extended to the daily moral life of society.Du Mu praised Shi Yuan Zhi,Shen Zhou,Yang Ji and other poets in the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and made critical comments on their poems. In terms of poetic genres,Du Mu talked more about antiphonal singing and poetry, synthetical poetry and collectible poetry, and expressed his own opinions. He believed that singing and poetry "embarrassed and restrained temperament",and collectible poetry should have the aesthetic characteristics of "coming from one’s own hand, but not seeing it together".The third chapter discusses the study of poetry in Nan Hao Shi Hua.Du Mu cited different literature to examine the sources of poetry, poetry skills and poetry authors. The fourth chapter evaluates the value of Nan hao Shi Hua.In poetics,on the one hand,Du Mu’s poetry was deeply influenced by Yan Yu’s poetry theory, especially "Miao Wu theory" and "Other material theory".At the same time,Du Mu also put forward his own views, such as to understand the "truth","but write the truth and reality" and so on;On the other hand,Following Qu You and Xia qi Yu Bian,Du Mu advocated an objective view of the value of Song poetry outside the mainstream of "respecting Tang" and refuted the trend of The Times of "respecting Tang and denigrating Song".In terms of document preservation,Nan Hao Shi Hua records a lot of lost poems in Yuan and Ming dynasties. These poems are preserved and spread because of the record of Nan hao Poetics.
