During the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,Jiang Weiqiao had increasingly close ties with the society at that time.Under the premise of personal socialization,he was relatively smoothly transformed from an ordinary scholar in the imperial era to a new type of intellectual. On the whole, through long-term social interactions,Jiang Weiqiao’s social network continues to expand outward.Taking various opportunities as opportunities,he formed a unique cultural habitus. His social network and cultural habitus are constantly changing on the basis of the past, showing different characteristics in various stages of life. From 1879 to 1911,Jiang Weiqiao was first influenced by Confucian culture in his early years, and his main goal was to rank in the imperial examination.A few years later,he gave up his career and began to go to Shanghai to make a living. At this time, his social objects mainly came from family, school and publishing house. In addition to family members,Zhong Guanguang,Cai Yuanpei and others in the social network have had a profound influence on him.Whether studying in private schools and academies,or working in primary and secondary schools in Shanghai and the Commercial Press,Jiang Weiqiao is actively learning and disseminating new knowledge of various categories. From 1911 to 1929,Jiang Weiqiao held various administrative jobs in the central and local education systems. When he was not in politics,he devoted his energy to religion and health preservation.During this period,as a layman practicing half-way,his social network became increasingly religious, and people from the political and religious circles gradually accounted for a larger proportion. He has extensive contact with various sects of Buddhism and practiced various practices. In terms of health preservation,he put forward and practiced the propositions of "meditation" and "abolition of morning food".From 1929 to 1949,Jiang Weiqiao worked in various universities in Shanghai for a long time. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War,in order to make ends meet,he had to hold teaching positions in other colleges and universities.During his teaching,he met many teachers and students in colleges and universities, and often made friends with "literature" and cooperated with them.In the Hongying Library and the Association,he also made friends with many people in other fields.Because of teaching,Jiang Weiqiao conducted a relatively comprehensive study of various ancient Chinese thoughts and made great academic achievements. He published a series of treatises, mainly analyzing and interpreting the texts of various ancient books. In terms of practice,he has more in-depth contact with Taoism and Buddhism. In addition, through a comparative analysis of the life experiences of Jiang Weiqiao and Liu Dapeng,we can see that factors such as social networks, cultural habitus, and geographical environment had different degrees of influence on the scholars of the late Qing Dynasty, making them embark on different lives.
