"Both Chinese And Western"-A Study Of Hua Tianyou’s Work Mother And Its Influence On My Creation

This paper uses Mother’s Love as an example to illustrate the artistic characteristics of Hua Tianyou sculptures,which are "both Chinese and Western".On the one hand,I want to show how Hua Tianyou studied and inherited the traditional Chinese painting concept;on the other hand,I want to analyze how Hua Tianyou absorbed the excellent and classical sculptural traditions of China and the West and gave them a new life through creation.By studying the traditional Chinese concept of "six methods" of sculpting and applying it to his sculptural creation,Hua Tianyou has created a series of excellent sculptures.In the first chapter,the paper discusses Hua Tianyou inheritance and re-creation of traditional Chinese art and his study of Western sculpture during his study in France;through a review of Hua Tianyou living environment,his social interactions,and his identity,the general outline of the relationship between Hua Tianyou sculptural style and its formation is sketched.Through this study,we can see that Hua Tianyou was a practitioner of classicalism,but at the same time,we can see that he explored traditional Chinese art theory and Western sculptural practice relentlessly.His works embody a profound sense of humanism and family feeling,and contain universal human emotions such as "mother’s love" and "family".In the second chapter of this paper,the author analyzes the shape and theme of Hua Tianyou "Mother’s Love" and attempts to analyze the shape,line,space,connotation,and other formal languages of his sculptures,presenting the rules of his works and studying how he combines the essence of the "Six Methods" of traditional Chinese art theory with traditional Western sculpture.At the same time,as a widely influential sculptor in the 20 th century,Hua Tianyou style and his artistic modeling ideas have influenced other sculptors in China.In the third chapter,through the study of the sculptures of Huatianyou,the author draws on and applies the artistic expressions and methods of expression of the sculptures of Huatianyou to my graduation creation,trying to incorporate the stylistic characteristics of the Jin-Yuan period of Shanxi Jinan drama figurines and Hua Tianyou sculptural style into my graduation creation,with a view to presenting the author’s thoughts on traditional Chinese sculptural methods and related theories in the stage of graduate sculpture study and creation.
