| Aesthetic institutions are characterised by the intersection of various disciplines such as aesthetics and anthropology, placing aesthetic activities such as customs and rituals in a broad socio-cultural context, distinguishing them from traditional aesthetics which focuses on the study of the essence of beauty and art.By re-examining ethnic ritual art from the perspective of aesthetic institutions,we can,on the one hand, explore the deeper ethnic cultural connotations behind ritual art and,on the other hand, ground the metaphysical aesthetic research in concrete social reality, while making ritual art significant in the social context of ethnic cultural diversity and helping us to recognise the different aesthetic connotations in ethnic minority cultures.Taking the Naxi Dongba rituals as a specific object of study, this paper uses field research and documentary research methods to investigate and collate the basic situation and aesthetic characteristics of Naxi ritual art,to analyse how the aesthetic values and cultural connotations embedded in the rituals of Naxi daily life form the aesthetic system of the Naxi people,to analyse the relationship between the aesthetic system of the Naxi people, the generation of aesthetic emotions, and how, with the changes in society changes in behaviour, field and perception of this system. The study shows that, firstly, rituals,as the materialised form of the Naxi aesthetic system, regulate and influence the aesthetic and artistic activities of the Naxi people.Secondly, the formation of the Naxi aesthetic system is influenced by historical development, the natural environment, material and social production, and spiritual and cultural forms.Thirdly, the ritual worship of traditional festivals has become a common attitude to life, and the worship of Naxi Dongba rituals contains a strong aesthetic pursuit, which has led to a greater understanding and expectation of aesthetic construction. The study of Naxi Dongba rituals focuses on the construction of aesthetic institutions, but is also committed to exploring the cultural depths and finding a’social scientific status’ for the conceptual forms, institutional arrangements and symbolic systems associated with Naxi Dongbaism through anthropological research. We hope to use aesthetic institutional theory to analyse Naxi Dongba rituals in order to provide a new perspective and a new way of thinking.Firstly, the inclusion of Naxi folk rituals in aesthetic studies is conducive to aesthetics drawing on aesthetic experiences from the margins and folklore.Secondly, the study of Naxi Dongba rituals is not limited to the study of their external manifestations, but more importantly, the study of their connotations and cultural attributes, describing the aestheticised survival picture of Naxi society in harmony with rituals, and revealing through various factors the resulting rupture in the ritual traditions of Naxi society and the crisis of ritual aestheticised survival in contemporary times, reflecting the evolution of Naxi ethnic groups’ aesthetic concepts and the changes in the aesthetic system. |
