This study examined the relationship between memorizing tasks of English classics and C-E(Chinese to English)interpreting fluency. The participants were 48 BTI majors of the two classes in a university in southern Henan Province.7 articles from English classics were selected and assigned to the participants of the experimental class for the memorizing task. The task was monitored and checked within three months.Pre-task C-E interpreting fluency and post-task C-E interpreting fluency were respectively measured and thereafter compared. Both qualitative and quantitative data analysis revealed that the memorizing task had a significant effect on the participants’ interpreting fluency, which demonstrated that Memorizing English classics did improve the participants’ interpreting fluency. This study might suggest that memorizing English classics can benefit BTI majors in their English learning and C-E interpreting. The implications and limitations are also further discussed. |
