| In recent years,more and more scholars have focused on the study of the correlation between speaking anxiety and speaking strategies and the static study of the effect of speaking strategies on anxiety.However,there are relatively few dynamic studies on the influences of speaking strategies on speaking anxiety.Under the guidance of Andrew D.Cohen’s SBI(Strategies-based Instruction)training model,a two-semester strategy-based oral English practice was conducted among 90 non-English major undergraduates of a university and the changes of students’ speaking anxiety and the use of speaking strategies were also investigated regularly.Due to the epidemic situation,the first semester strategy-based oral English practice mainly focused on the online training of speaking strategies while the oral practice was mainly carried out offline in the second semester,and the subjects’ speaking anxiety and the use of speaking strategies were investigated regularly by the author.Combining quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis,this research pays attention to the dynamic changes in students’ speaking anxiety and the use of speaking strategies,and the influences of speaking strategies on speaking anxiety.The author also analyzes the causes of the changes in students’ speaking anxiety with a view to making suggestions for further oral English teaching.The research results indicate that:(1)In the process of strategy-based oral English practice,the students’ speaking anxiety level has changed significantly.Before the strategy training,the students’ speaking anxiety level is highest.After the first-semester online strategy training,the students’ speaking anxiety level has dropped significantly and it slightly increases after the summer vacation.After the second-semester offline oral practice,students’ speaking anxiety level is lowest.(2)There is a significantly negative correlation between speaking strategies and speaking anxiety all the time.The negative correlation between these two factors is weakest before strategy training,and it is stronger after the first-semester online strategy training.After the summer vacation,the negative correlation between speaking anxiety and speaking strategies becomes weaker and it is strongest after the offline oral practice in second semester.(3)At different stages of oral practice,the influence of speaking strategies on speaking anxiety is also different.Before the strategy training,the influence of speaking strategies on speaking anxiety is lowest and only memory strategies significantly affect the anxiety level;after the first-semester of online strategy training,the influence of speaking strategies on speaking anxiety is greater.Affective strategies,metacognitive strategies,social strategies and memory strategies all have significant influence on speaking anxiety;the impact of speaking strategies on speaking anxiety decreases after the summer vacation and only affective strategies and cognitive strategies significantly influence speaking anxiety.After the offline oral practice in second semester,the influence of the speaking strategies on the speaking anxiety is greatest,and all the strategies significantly influence the speaking anxiety except for the memory strategies. |
