The development path of Marx’s critical thought of consumption is essentially three threads going hand in hand: first, the development clue of the materialist view of history;Among them, which is directly related to Marx’s consumption research,"from the exploration of fair consumption in the period of humanistic materialism to the exploration of the social and historical basis of consumption".the second is the process of deepening the historical view; This development thread spans the whole text, referring to the development path of Marx’s view of history: general materialism-generalized historical materialism-narrow historical materialism; It involves the development process of Marx’s understanding of social history from "general" to "certain" to "specific",including the theoretical transmutation of Marx’s understanding of consumption at different times. The third is the process of transformation of Marx’s understanding of consumption; From the critique of the consumption of things at the level of initial empirical phenomena,to the critique of consumption under the construction of social relations in the period dominated by philosophical discourse,to the critique of capitalist consumer relations in the period when economic discourse was dominant, and finally to the critique of consumption in the process of capitalist economy. It can be seen that Marx’s understanding of consumption has three stages: thing-relation-process.The first chapter of this paper explores the social and historical background and theoretical origin of the formation of Marx’s critical thought of consumption, the second chapter analyzes the theoretical and logical construction process of Marx’s critical thought of consumption, the third chapter explores Marx’s critique of consumption relations in the process of capitalist economy, and the fourth chapter takes Marx’s critical thought of consumption as a theoretical examination of the new changes in the development of contemporary capitalism.
