| "Looking",as a kind of behavior,is a complex visual relationship.Since ancient times,people have made high comments on the behavior of "Looking".Ancient Greek sages believed that vision is the most obvious sense in the five senses to distinguish the difference between things,and vision has cognitive function,which is a powerful tool for people to explore and understand the world.Therefore,they regarded eyes as the first of the five senses and vision as the most important sense,and even developed a "visual centralism." "Look" is also a very important writing object in the history of literature: Lu Xun’s "look" reveals the insensitivity of the public,Yu Dafu’s "peep" reflects the sexual distress of the protagonist,and Lin Bai’s self-reflection in the mirror reshapes the dominant position of women.Finally,"look" is the projection of the eyes with the desire of the subject and the operation of power.For some people who enter the center of power,their "look" is no longer a single visual behavior.Behind it is the gaze of power and the revelation of the desire of the subject."Look" here becomes another form of expression of power.Foucault,as one of the writers of postmodern theory,broadened the research field of visual culture with his theory of power.He introduced power into the interpretation process of "looking".He believed that "looking" is a way of exercising power,and "seeing" is not only producing power,but also spreading power."However,Foucault’s power gaze theory of" seeing "is rarely used in the study of new period novels.Based on Foucault’s power gaze theory,this paper analyzes the writing of"seeing "in new period novels,hoping to seek a new possibility of breakthrough.At the beginning of the new period,the novel creation "a hundred flowers bloom" and "a hundred schools of thought contend",showing a flourishing and vigorous development trend.The eyes,"the most reliable feeling",have been given sufficient attention and trust by novelists in the new period.The protagonists in the novel in the new period have been relying on "Looking" to understand the world,perceive themselves and judge others.This paper takes the "Looking" in the novel in the new period as the research object,and studies the "Look" in the novel in the new period from three parts: the type of "Looking",the power gaze behind "Looking" and the value and significance of "Looking".The introduction introduces the research background of "Looking" in the novel of the new period.The first chapter classifies the types of "watching" : surveillance,onlooker,self-examination.The second chapter starts from the power operation mechanism behind "Looking" and uses Foucault’s power gaze theory to explore the relationship between the power behind "Seeing" and knowledge,body and discourse.The third chapter experiences the multi-value of "reading" in the novel of the new period.The "Looking" of the novel of the new period expands the writing content of the novel of the new period,expands the aesthetic experience of readers in literary reading,and enriche the demand of female liberation in the new period.Based on Foucault’s power gaze theory,this paper aims to have a systematic study and panoramic grasp of the novel’s view in the new period. |
