A Study Of Metadiscourse In The Maqiao Dictionary

Metadiscourse is a linguistic phenomenon.In language communication,the discourse behavior includes both the basic discourse level and the metadiscourse level.Basic discourse describes the propositional information,Metadiscourse organizes the discourse information,reflects the speaker’s evaluation,and guides the speaker to understand the propositional information.There are a large number of metadiscourse phenomena in the Maqiao Dictionary,but there are no relevant articles to sort out the metadiscourse phenomena.These metadiscourse phenomena are very important to the metadiscourse classification of literary discourse and the context construction function of metadiscourse.Under the guidance of the theory of system function linguistics,based on the metadiscourse theory of Hyland,and the description of the Maqiao Dictionary,forms of exploration,and on the basis of the analysis of the Maqiao Dictionary metadiscourse unique and its context construction function.First of all,this paper sorts out the metadiscourse and clarifies its definition and related concepts.The standard adopts the broad concept of metadiscourse that does not express the propositional meaning,forms words,interprets the discourse,reflects the author’s comment and attitude in the discourse,and reflects the interactive relationship between the author and the reader.The scope of the research covers discourse markers and metadiscourse markers.At the same time,according to the classification standard of whether there are corresponding language forms in the discourse as interpretation and highlight,punctuation marks are divided into explicit and implicit,so that explicit punctuation marks belong to the category of metadiscourse,which are included in the research scope of this paper.Based on the standard of textual metadiscourse function or interpersonal metadiscourse function,it is divided into three categories: connective metadiscourse,code explanative metadiscourse,and interpersonal metadiscourse.Secondly,based on the analysis and description of metadiscours phenomenon in the Maqiao Dictionary,this paper discusses the concrete embodiment of discourse connective metadiscourse,code explanative metadiscourse and interpersonal function metadiscourse in the discourse,and will be further detailed.Connective metadiscourse and code explanative metadiscourse are all metadiscourse that represent the textual function.It has the function of connecting topics and reflecting the logical relationship between discourse,which can be divided into topical structural metadiscourse,cohesive metadiscourse and evidential metadiscourse,which is divided into language form and explicit punctuation mark discourse.Metadiscourse of power evaluation and communicative metadiscourse are both sub-categories of interpersonal metadiscourse in the Maqiao Dictionary.Metadiscourse has the function of representing the language power and attitude evaluation of the author,which is subdivided into boosters and the attitude metadiscourse;the communicative metadiscourse shows the author intervening discourse and reflecting the relationship between the author and the reader,which can be divided into two categories: self-mentions and engagement metadiscourse.Finally,the paper discusses the unique characteristics of the three types of meta-discourse and their context construction function.This paper holds that the Maqiao Dictionary has the characteristics of "deictic skipping" and "low context".The specific use of metadiscourse can reflect the restrictive effect of context.Reflect different context-building situations.Based on the analysis,this paper holds that the discourse linking metadiscourse in the Maqiao Dictionary has the function of constructing situational context,and the code annotation meta-discourse has the unique function of constructing cultural context.That is to say,the meta-discourse that represents the function of discourse in the Maqiao Dictionary not only has the function of constructing linguistic context,but also directly has the function of constructing situational context and cultural context in practical application,which is a supplement to the division of the contextualization.The phenomenon of metadiscourse in the Maqiao Dictionary is mainly from the functional perspective,focusing on the classification of metadiscourse and the context construction function under the characteristics and characteristics of novel metadiscourse.This paper re-clarifies the definition of metadiscourse,clarifies the research scope of metadiscourse,and fully describes it on the basis of induction and classification of metadiscourse,which is conducive to the further deepening of the research of the basic theory of metadiscourse,and also provides more ideas for the study of meta-discourse in literary discourse.
