| Research purposes: To compare the Effects in body self-esteem and trait anxiety of female college students who participated in jazz dance and aerobics studies before, during, and after the intervention, exploring the possible differences in the effects of two different exercise modalities, jazz dance and aerobics,to improve body self-esteem and trait anxiety in female universities and promote the development of jazz dance sports courses. Methods:Taking female freshmen students from the Yangluo campus of Hubei University as participates, used a randomized controlled experimental design and randomly divided the subjects included in this study into two groups stratified by class, namely, with 16 in the intervention group(jazz dance)and16 in the conventional dance instruction group(aerobics). The physical selfesteem scale and trait anxiety scale were used to measure and evaluate the physical self-esteem and trait anxiety of the two groups of subjects before, during and after the experiment, and the data were analyzed and processed using SPSS.25.Results:(1)In this study,32 subjects completed the postintervention assessment,no subjects were lost, and there was no significant difference in the comparison of the basic conditions of the 2 groups of subjects,or in the baseline data of each group of indicators(p>0.05);(2)The learning of both jazz dance and aerobics significantly increased the subjects’ total body self-esteem scores, but the subjects’ total body selfesteem scores were significantly higher in the jazz dance exercise style than in the aerobics group at the posttest(p<0.05);(3)Both jazz and aerobics exercise interventions significantly improved the General Physical Self-worth,Sport Competence, and Physical Condition dimensions of body self-esteem in female college students overall, but only jazz dance had a significant improvement in the Body(p<0.001)and Strength(p<0.01)dimensions;(4)Under the two different exercise modality interventions, only the effect of jazz dance on trait anxiety was significantly different at different durations(p<0.001),and trait anxiety was significantly lower in the jazz dance exercise modality than in the aerobics group at posttest(p<0.05).Conclusions:(1)Through 12 weeks of jazz dance exercise, the jazz dance group’s total body self-esteem scores and indicators of each dimension were improved to different degrees, indicating that jazz dance exercise can effectively improve the level of body self-esteem of female college students;(2)Long-term practice of jazz dance can make the practitioner happy and satisfied, and relieve stress, improve self-confidence,and reduce the level of trait anxiety;(3)Both jazz dance and aerobics improved the practitioners’ body self-esteem levels, but the amount of effect of jazz dance on improving the total body self-esteem score,General Physical Self-worth dimension, and Body dimension of female college students was significantly better than that of aerobics. |
