Ding Ling is an important female writer in the history of Chinese literature in the20 th century, with a unique female perspective, she shows women’s pursuit and exploration of freedom in the era of radical change.Ding Ling’s novels creation from1927 to 1949 can be divided into three stages: the may fourth period, the Left Alliance period and the Yan ’an period.First of all,in the post-May 4th period, the female freedom in Ding Ling’s novels is mainly reflected in the heroine’s pursuit and attempt for the freedom of marriage and love.During this period,Ding Ling pursued absolute personal freedom under the influence of the May 4th Movement. The struggles of modern female images such as Shafei in her works are mainly reflected in the awakening of female body freedom consciousness, the transformation of gender relationship status and more choices in life. But they do not have strong fighting toughness, and there are illusory and realistic in their pursuit of freedom of marriage and love. The end of this battle all reveals that women should not only focus on their own inner world, but also go to a broader social life to find a deeper sense of belonging. The female freedom in Ding Ling’s novels during the Period of The Left Alliance is mainly reflected in the shaping of the heroine’s personality freedom. In the 1930 s,when the country was in deep national crisis,Ding Ling intervened in the social tide.During this period,Ding Ling depicts the difficult process of the first generation of female national mother,Manzhen, who slowly moved towards spiritual freedom through physical and economic independence. She also describes the transformation of class identity and spiritual independence of the second generation of female citizens. It should also be noted that the establishment of personal freedom has the nature of zigzagging and contradiction. The main reasons for its twists and turns are the pressure of public opinion in the external urban environment, the lack of modern career for women entering the society, and the difficulty of the transformation of women’s consciousness. In order to build a modern personality, women need to overcome those emotional elements, and in this process, there will be many feelings of contradiction.Ding Ling went to Yan ’an with these perplexities. Finally,in yan ’an period, the female freedom in Ding Ling’s novels is mainly reflected in the connotation of political freedom of female images.Under the influence of Yan ’an culture,Ding Ling strengthened her belief in politics and created a group of Revolutionary women in Yan ’an.The creation of female images such as Zhenzhen,Qiqi and Hou Guiying shows the family and marriage problems in Yan ’an,and reflects Ding Ling’s life consciousness and compassion.Ding Ling discusses how to realize individual freedom in organizations. She tries to construct an ideal yan ’an under the conflict,so that the organization and the individual can be integrated.Political freedom in this period showed the characteristics of reflection and growth. In her novels such as The Sun Shines on sanggan River,Ding Ling found that the patriarchal and feudal culture still existed in the revolutionary context in which women entered. Finally, women found a new way to gain freedom in politics, that is,to grow up slowly in the revolution and hardship, which also reflects the return of the rationality of Ding Ling’s revolution. To sum up,Ding Ling’s female free writing is of great significance.Ding Ling’s thinking on women’s freedom is of development and continuity,Through writing the construction process of Chinese women’s modern personality in the 20 th century, ding Ling projected the great transition of Chinese women from "other" to "subject",and connected the development process of modern literature history with the continuous growth of female perspective and female image sequence.
