On The Ecological Consciousness In Gibran's Work

Gibran Khalil Gibran(1883-1931)was a representative writer of the "American School" in modern Arabia.He is a nature poet from Lebanon.His style is fresh and natural,and his poems are full of the pastoral ideal of "returning to nature".In 1895,he moved to the United States and saw various ecological and social problems caused by industrialization in the new world,which made him think about the relationship between man and nature again.On the basis of a close reading of Gibran’s works,combined with relevant Eco-critical theory,Gibran’s living environment and multiple cultural background,this paper analyzes the ecological distress consciousness and ecological harmony consciousness in Gibran’s works,explores the source of Gibran’s ecological consciousness and expounds the realistic enlightenment of Gibran’s ecological consciousness writing.The main body of this paper is divided into four parts.The first part is the preface,which explains the origin of the topic of this paper.By referring to relevant literature at home and abroad,this paper makes a comprehensive review of Gibran’s communication,translation,works and biography in China,and defines the concept of key words in relevant Eco-criticism.The second part focuses on the classification of ecological distress consciousness and ecological harmony consciousness.First of all,from the "Anthropocentrism ",industrial civilization and the criticism of desire theory to present the ecological concern consciousness in the work.Secondly,the consciousness of ecological harmony is presented by exploring the beauty of nature,respecting nature and constructing poetic homes.The third part discusses the source of ecological consciousness.At the micro level,the author explores the poet’s nature complex from his personal life experience.At the macro level,from the background of Gibran in Eastern and Western culture,this paper analyzes the ecological wisdom implied in the Bible and Oriental mysticism,and the influence of Western Romanticism and American transcendentalism on Gibran’s view of nature.The fourth part expounds the practical significance of Gibran’s ecological consciousness from three aspects: establishing comprehensive ecological consciousness,realizing harmony between love and beauty,and contentedness and simplicity of life.Finally,the epilogue makes a summative overview of this article,combs the ecological view in Gibran’s works,and talks about the poet’s ecological personality charm.
