| Guo Xiang’s philosophy represented the peak of philosophy development in Wei and Jin Dynasties.Guo Xiang’s Notes on Zhuangzi set up a theoretical system based on "selfgeneration" and "individual nature",pointing to the freedom by temperament.Guo Xiang’s Zhuangzi Notes contains a lot of related discussions on "Qi" and "nature",and the use of the category of "temperament",which indicates that Guo Xiang combined "Qi" and "nature",revealing the thought of "discussing nature by Qi".Through the analysis and grasp of the above categories and discussion,we get the two attributes of "self-generation of Qi" and "selfsatisfaction of nature".Thus, the connotation of Guo Xiang’s thought of temperament can be shown.Through further study,it is not difficult to find that Guo Xiang’s thought of temperament is intrinsically integrated with his metaphysical thought of "self-generation","individual nature" and the freedom by temperament, that is,temperament runs through two metaphysical bases of "self-generation" and "individual nature" and points to the freedom by temperament.Based on Guo Xiang’s thought of temperament connotation,it can be found that Guo Xiang’s related discussions on Qi and nature are inspired by the sequence of "Qi-Form-Life" in Zhuangzi, the "gathering and dispersing" of "Qi" determines "life and death",the proposition that "nature" cannot be changed or added, and the proposition that nourishing qi is nourishing nature.Guo Xiang’s discussion on temperament was inspired by the concept of "using Qi as nature and nature as destiny" and the category of "Qi" in Lun Heng.Zheng Xuan and Wang Bi’s Yi-ology laid Guo Xiang’s theoretical foundation of "self-generation of Qi" and "selfsatisfaction of nature".Zheng Xuan thinks that "Qi" is "suddenly and self-generated",and "the nature of the world,is not complacent".Wang Bi thinks that all things are "self-generation" by "Qi","Qi" produces "self-satisfaction of nature",inspired Guo Xiang’s thought of "selfgeneration of Qi" and "self-satisfaction of nature".In terms of influence and effect,Guo Xiang’s thought of temperament had a profound influence on Han Kangbo and Zhang Zhan in the Eastern Jin Dynasty.Guo Xiang’s thought of temperament had a profound influence on the "nature of temperament" in the Song Dynasty.Guo Xiang’s temperament thought laid a theoretical foundation for the "form and spirit" of Wei and Jin Dynasties and the "Chang Shen" of Jin and Song Dynasties. |
