As a student of an agriculture university, the translator is inspired to choose an English book of agricultural value as her source text for the report. The source text is Chapter ten and Chapter eleven of The Nature of Plants: An Introduction to How Plants Work.As an academic book related to plants science,it reveals how plants use water, what paths it takes to move nutrients and fuel growth, and also delves into the mysterious world of plant communication, exploring the messages and warnings conveyed to animals or other plants through chemical scents and hormones. The source text is selected from an agricultural science popularization book, which aims to provide the cutting-edge agricultural theories and research for gardeners and farmers who do not have sufficient theoretical knowledge. Therefore,in light of the Text Typology proposed by Peter Newmark, the book is an informative text. The translation should accommodate readership with clarity and faithfulness.Guided by the framework of “Comprehension,Expression and Adaption”proposed by Li Changshuan, this paper attempts to analyze major translation difficulties and figure out solutions. This report is composed of four chapters.Firstly,it introduces the domestic and international background of horticultural and the significance of translation and the introduction of the translation material.Secondly,it describes the translation process, ranging from translation preparation to difficulties analysis.Based on the “Comprehension,Expression and Adaption”framework, the third part is the case analysis, which includes eight aspects.Fourth, the summary consists of gains and reflection on the deficiency.
