Heavenly Principle and human desire are a very important pair of categories in the history of ancient Chinese philosophy. They are also one of the major theoretical problems in the history of Chinese ethical thought.Zhu Xi is a master of Neo-Confucianism.The problem of Confucianism is mainly discussed by Zhu Xi and the core content of his ethical thoughts. It occupies an important position in Zhu Xi’s philosophical system.Zhu Xi’s View of Heavenly Principle and human desire is the continuation of Chinese moral thinking and the product of the inner self-evolution of theory. Before Zhu Xi,many thinkers had made their own opinions on the issue of “ Heavenly Principle and human desire ”.Zhu Xi inherited and developed the thought of his predecessors, from Confucius’ s temperance,Mencius’ s few desire,Xun Zi’s “ guided desire with reason and control of desire by Tao ”,to Zhang Zai’s theory of “ up to achieve anti-Heavenly Principle and favouritism desire ”,the Cheng brothers’ Heavenly Principle and human desire “ difficult to one ”,thus put forward his own view of Heavenly Principle and human desire.Zhu Xi’s commodity economy in the Southern Song Dynasty was prosperous. That also made it more necessary to regulate the economic interests of agricultural civilisation. The relationship between Heavenly Principle and gas is the Philosophical basis of Heavenly Principle and human desire. As the highest category of Zhu Xi’s philosophical system,Heavenly Principle is the root and foundation of the universe.Everything in heaven and earth is generated by the most fundamental theory, and gas is the second category in Zhu Xi’s philosophical system.Zhu Xi believes that the relationship between Heavenly Principle and gas is primary and secondary. When discussing the relationship between Heavenly Principle and gas,he emphasizes the dichotomy of Heavenly Principle and gas,Heavenly Principle is in the front and the gas is in the back. And its theory of Heavenly Principle and gas is reflected in the theory of human nature, and it becomes the nature of Mandate of the Heaven and Temperament.Zhu Xi’s Heavenly Principle, first refers to the origin of everything in the universe and the fundamental laws of the world, and secondly,to the ethical and moral norms advocated by Confucianism, and human beings.Human nature is also the embodiment of natural reason in the human body.Human desire is a selfish desire opposite to Heavenly Principle, and Zhu Xi confirms the desire of normal physiological needs.Zhu Xi’s moral mind and Human mind are inseparable from his view of Heavenly Principle and human desire. It should be noted that the Human mind is different from human desire.By analyzing Zhu Xi’s explanation of Heavenly Principle and human desire,as well as analyzing the relationship between the relationship with moral mind and human heart,we can understand the connotation of Zhu Xi’s rational desire at a deeper level. In the relationship between Heavenly Principle and human desires,Zhu Xi opposes Heavenly Principle and human desire, believing that Heavenly Principle and human desires are irreconcilable, but the two are also interdependent and contain Heavenly Principle. Therefore,we should strictly distinguish Heavenly Principle and human desires and put forward the idea of“ preserving Heavenly Principle and destroying human desire ”.How to achieve this?Zhu Xi inherited and gave full play to the Cheng brothers’ “ knowledge of investigating things and verity ” and “ respect and Righteousness”.Respect is to cultivate Kung fu,maintain nature, cultivate the best nature, and then complete moral cultivation through “ investigating things and verity ”.Through the research and analysis of the above aspects,we strive to accurately grasp the main contents of Zhu Xi’s view of Heavenly Principle and human desire.Zhu Xi’s “ preserving Heavenly Principle and destroying human desire ” has been discussed and debated by the academic community from the beginning of his introduction.Realistic thinking of the problem of Heavenly Principle and destroying human desire according to Zhu Xi’s text restoration. It is not only important for clarifying the theory misunderstood and simplified.
