Research On The "Father Image" In The Novels Of "Three Swordsmen Of Tiexi"

In recent years,Shuang Xuetao,Ban Yu,and Zheng Zhi,three post 80s young writers from Tiexi District,Shenyang,have successively entered the literary world.Their main achievements have been in the creation of short and medium stories,most of which focus on the fate of Northeast Chinese people,especially those who are laid-off workers,after the reform of state-owned enterprises in the 1990s,demonstrating the survival hardships,state of life,value and dignity of their parents,and forming a unique aesthetic style.In the past,the academic community has conducted in-depth research around many aspects of the creation of the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi",but the "father" perspective does not seem to have attracted widespread attention in the academic community.Although the researcher Huang Ping once emphasized that the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" wrote the story of their fathers from the perspective of their children,this emphasis was more due to the consideration of the legitimacy of witnesses/creators as spokesmen for the working class,Instead,it obscures the role of father and the relationship between father and son in the family sense.Therefore,this thesis aims to explore the role of father in the novels of "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" from the perspective of family ethics,mainly exploring what emotional and cognitive values "father" plays in the novels of "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi",and what spiritual,realistic,and literary historical significance such emotional and cognitive values have,thereby providing new ideas and possibilities for the study of "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" novels.This thesis will be divided into four parts to study the father image in the novel "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" :The first section of the first chapter discusses the realistic background of the father’s writing in the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" novels,and the second section combs the writing and evolution process of the father’s image in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese literature.This chapter lays the foundation for a clearer positioning and interpretation of the "father" image in the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" novels.The second chapter explores the image map of "father" in the novels of "Tiexi Three Swordsmen".The first section discusses the "father" in the perspective of father review.Firstly,in the process of reform and opening up,fathers who are working class have been thrown out of the train of development of the times and become the "losers" of the times;Secondly,the novels of "The Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" portray a large number of father images of "losers" in life."The Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" not only show their ups and downs in the struggle process,but also show their situation in which no matter how hard they struggle,they inevitably end up failing;Finally,the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" also created a small number of images of evil and weak fathers,but these images of evil and weak fathers reveal to a large extent the writers’ contradictory psychology of "wanting to kill but unable to" their fathers.The second section discusses the "father" in the patriarchal consciousness.The "Tiexi Three Swordsmen" not only objectively present the sufferings and struggles of their fathers,but also demonstrate the noble and pure paternal personality they possess,such as strength and courage,wisdom and compassion,criticism and questioning.The third chapter discusses the construction strategy of the image of "father" in the novels of "Tiexi Three Swordsmen".The first section discusses the setting of character relationships.First,the missing mother-child relationship and the prominence of the father’s role.In the novels of the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi",the image of the mother is often weakened or removed.The mother either runs away,or dies,or is directly absent."Lack of mother" makes the image of the "father" more prominent.It can be said that the absence or exit of the mother has become the main narrative force in reshaping the "patriarchal" discourse in the novels;The second is the separation and integration of the father and son relationship and the transformation of the father’s role.In the novels of "The Three Swordsmen of Tiexi",the father and son relationship is rich and diverse and presents a structure that tends to be from separation to integration.This structure of father and son relationship is dominated by sons,and the transformation of father and son relationship is mainly based on the transformation of sons’ cognitive styles and emotional attitudes towards their fathers.It is precisely in this structure of father and son relationship that is dominated by sons,A father who is within the vision of his or her offspring and who constantly changes his or her own role throughout the growth process of his or her offspring is constructed.The second section discusses the application of narrative strategies.The common narrative strategies that can be explored in the novels of the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" mainly include multiline and nested narrative structures,and diverse narrative perspectives.This section will explore how the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" apply these narrative strategies to serve the construction of the father’s image.The fourth chapter discusses the value significance and shortcomings of the image of "father".The first section discusses the value and significance of the image of "father",first of all,the spiritual significance of the image of "father".The father in the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" novel has a spiritual significance that cannot be ignored for the creative subject,that is,providing spiritual salvation for the children on the way to find their father and arousing the redemption desire of the children,thereby constructing a redemption vision full of tragic and compassionate meanings;The second is the practical significance of the father image.The father image in the "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" novels has to some extent subverted the "rural northeast",refuted the discourse of the "sharing difficulties" era,and "disenchanted" the image of a comedian in the northeast;Finally,the significance of the image of "father" in literary history.The father in the novel "Three Swordsmen of Tiexi" has shed the burden of cultural symbols and ideology for a long time and become more daily and authentic.The second section discusses the shortcomings of the "father" image.The shortcomings in the portrayal of the father image in the "Tiexi Three Swordsmen" novels are mainly reflected in the fixed expression of the character’s living area(northeast),the similarity of the character’s living state and fate,and the patterning of the character’s ending.
