Abstract/Summary:
From the beginning of the Qing Dynasty,the parallel prose had a momentum of revival.Many writers of the parallel prose successively entered the literary circle.A mong them,Wu Zhaoqian was the outstanding parallel prose writer of the early Qing Dynasty.Although the number of its popular works was not so much,from the quality of view,it should occupy a place in the history of the Qing Dynasty parallel prose.Through the careful analysis of the Wu Zhaoqian’s parallel prose writing,this paper studies his parallel prose writing from many angles and tries to have a comprehensive grasp of them.In addition,put Wu Zhaoqian into the background of the development of politic,economy and parallel prose in the early Qing Dynasty,clarify Wu Zhaoqian’s social situation,and analyze Wu Zhaoqian’s creation achievements and artistic characteristics of the parallel prose.The full text is divided into three chapters except the introduction.The first chapter focuses on the background of Wu Zhaoqian’s parallel prose creation.Born at the end of Ming Dynasty,Wu Zhaoqian experienced the turbulent period of the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty.Besides,he was also in the period of the renaissance of the parallel prose in the early Qing Dynasty,which influenced his thought of parallel prose.Besides,Wu received a good family education at an early age,made friends with other famous writers such as Chen Weisong,Wu Weiye and Gu Zhenguan,and was then exiled to Northeast China,where influenced his writing of parallel prose.The second chapter classifies the content of Wu Zhaoqian’s parallel prose.According to the parallel prose recorded in Qiujia Collection,it can be divided into four categories according to the content.The first is sing praise and praising virtue,including Changbai Mountain Ode and so on.The second is describing the scene and expressing the motion,including Spring Ode and so on.The third is social interaction,including letter to Ji Fu.The fourth is chanting object and chanting the heart,including the Orchid Ode and so on.The third chapter analyzes the artistic characteristics of Wu Zhaoqian’s parallel prose and compares it with Nalan Xingde’s parallel prose.The analysis of the artistic characteristics of Wu Zhaoqian’s parallel prose is conducted according to the four elements of the parallel prose successively.First,it is abundant in pairs.From the form of expression,it can be divided into single sentence pairs and intersentential pairs.According to the content,there are pairs of characters,plants,animals and allusions.The second is using allusions cleverly,to reflect Wu Zhaoqian’s superb skill of parallel prose.The third is full of embellishment,which is divided into two aspects.The first is rich and brilliant colors,using color words such as cyan,green,gold,yellow and white.The second is a variety of expression techniques,the use of personification,metaphor,exaggeration,parallelism and other techniques.The fourth is the harmony of sound,which is divided into the level and oblique coordination and rhyme in sentences.In addition to the four elements of the parallel prose,Wu Zhaoqian’s characteristic of the art of parallel prose is learning from The Songs of Chu and odes have poetry in the back,which reflects Wu Zhaoqian’s inheritance of the artistic techniques of The Songs of Chu.Compared with the parallel prose of Naran,it is mainly in sentence pattern,subject matter and artistic style.The conclusion part mainly summarizes the historical status and achievement of Wu Zhaoqian’s parallel prose and its influence on the later generations.
