A Study Of The "New Water Margin" Novels In The Late Qing Dynasty

The "New Water Margin" novels of the late Qing Dynasty,as a special textual phenomenon appearing in the fiction world of the late Qing Dynasty,are not only the product of the combined efforts of two major background factors,namely,the continuation of the traditional "Water Margin" and the "revolution in the fiction world" of the late Qing Dynasty,but also reflect the different possibilities of presenting readers after the agitation and influence between ancient novels and modern novels with their overall development morphology of interwoven "new and old".This article attempts to explore and examine the "New Water Margin" novels of the late Qing Dynasty from five research perspectives: their background,basic types,main content,textual analysis,and historical impact.This article is mainly divided into six parts:The introduction part explains the research object and current situation,research ideas and methods of this article.The research object starts with sorting out the relationship between the "New Water Margin" novel and the continuation of "The Water Margin" in the late Qing Dynasty,the relationship between the concepts of imitating the old and renovating the old,the research status quo,and the text information.It carries out an overall grasp and review of the main achievements,and attempts to fill in some of the shortcomings and shortcomings that exist therein.The first part systematically explains the background of the "New Water Margin" novels in the late Qing Dynasty,and is divided into two sections: The first section starts with the continuation of the ancient "Water Margin" novel,exploring the inspiration it gave to the "New Water Margin" novels in terms of writing ideas;the second section starts with the "Novel Revolution" in the late Qing Dynasty,exploring the liberation role of this literary movement on the "New Water Margin" in creative concepts and creative practices.The second part focuses on the basic types of "New Water Margin" novels in the late Qing Dynasty,and is divided into three sections: The first section is "Traditional Chapters",which will discuss the stylistic types of novels that imitate the Chapters in the works;The second section is "New Style Short Stories",which will explain the part of the book that incorporates the achievements of new short stories;The third section is "The Mixture of Various Styles",which will interpret the "New Water Margin" works that present some elements of both "traditional chapters" and "new short stories".The third part enters the research on the main content of the novel "New Water Margin" in the late Qing Dynasty,and is divided into four sections: The first section is "Social Entertainment",which will take Xileng Dongqing’s "New Water Margin" as an example to illustrate how to display the main theme of "Social Entertainment";The second section is "knowledge enlightenment",which will summarize the works from two aspects: the enlightenment of new things and the enlightenment of new ideas;The third section is "metaphor of current events",which will explain the metaphor of "critical words in prosperous times" by taking Lu Shi-e’s "New Water Margin" as an example;The fourth section is "literati self entertainment",which will be demonstrated separately from the five works embodying this theme.The fourth part is the text analysis of the novel "New Water Margin" in the late Qing Dynasty,which is divided into two sections: The first section is "Character Analysis",which will look at the individual differences between "Inheritance Type Characters","Adjustment Type Characters",and "Supplement Type Characters" from the perspective of inheritance and development;The second section is "plot" analysis,which will explore the "inheritance plot","adjustment plot",and "suspension plot" in combination with the corresponding relationship between them and character analysis.The fifth part is the elucidation of the historical impact of the "New Water Margin" novels in the late Qing Dynasty,which is divided into two sections: the first section is the "historical value of novels",which will combine the two dimensions of the history of ancient novels and modern novels to see the "transitional" nature of the "New Water Margin" novels;The second section is "Social Significance",which places the "New Water Margin" in the middle of the relationship between literature and the political,economic,and cultural fields of China in the late Qing Dynasty to see the value generated through interaction with the real society.
