A Study Of The Escape Theme In Wen Zhen’s Novels

As an outstanding representative of contemporary young writers,Wen Zhen’s literary creation has received widespread attention from the academic circles and the market,and is closely related to the theme of escape conveyed by his works.Correspondingly,under the care of the theme of escape,Wen Zhen shows the loneliness,confusion and desire to communicate with people under the double blow of material and spiritual difficulties of the "post-80s",profoundly exposes the real situation and inner entanglements of people in today’s era with the acceleration of globalization and urbanization,and shows the deep thinking of "post-80s" writers on the times and individual growth experiences.Based on the close reading of the text,this paper analyzes the textual presentation,deep meaning,narrative strategy,meaning and limitations of the escape theme in Wen Zhen’s novel.The introductory part briefly expounds the origin of the topic selection of this thesis,the research status,research methods,and innovative points and values of Wen Zhen and his works.The body of the paper is mainly divided into four chapters.The first chapter reveals the textual presentation of escape themes in Wen Zhen’s novels from a content perspective.Through the three aspects of fleeing the city,fleeing from relationships,and escaping spiritually,the squeeze of the times on the "post-80s" is revealed.The first section is an escape from the pursuit of ideals and the lost city of reality,which is mainly manifested in two aspects: the escape from Beijing’s real predicament and the poetic pursuit of "living elsewhere".The second section is an escape from the relationship between true love desire and emotional failure,mainly manifested as escaping disillusioned love and escaping unbalanced marriage,showing the pursuit of pure relationships by "post-80s" youth and the departure after they cannot ask for it.The third verse is a spiritual escape from returning to the heart and existential anxiety,including unfulfilled dreams and unrealistic fantasies,which are easier to complete than the first two escapes.The second chapter provides an in-depth analysis and interpretation of the meaning of the escape theme in Wen Zhen’s novel.The first section starts from the absurdity and nothingness of the external world,and analyzes the practical dilemmas faced by the "post-80s",including the pursuit and destruction of material ideals and the separation and alienation of interpersonal relationships.The second section analyzes the crisis and redemption of the spiritual world of the "post-80s" youth from the inner spirit of the individual,including the crisis of self-identity and self-help through faith.The third section focuses on Wen Zhen’s personal growth experience and creative spirit,and focuses on her traumatic experience in the process of growing up and the literary concept of "Mahayana living in the world",and explores her attention to and writing on the theme of escape.The third chapter analyzes the narrative strategy of escaping the theme in Wen Zhen’s novels.It mainly includes the narrative structure of "pursuit-escape-return",the female narrative perspective focusing on inner activities,and the cold narrative language that blends classical and modern.These are the narrative strategies chosen by Wen Zhen to escape the theme,and are aesthetic constructs other than the communication of ideas.The first section is the narrative structure of "pursuit-escape-return",through which Wen Zhen connects the city-people-events in the novel,revealing the intricate relationship between the three;The second section focuses on the female narrative perspective of inner activities,examines the material and spiritual dilemmas in existence from an objective and real female perspective,and shows the protagonist’s strong self-exploration and growth in the face of the conflict between self and reality;The third section is a cold-tone narrative language that blends classical and modern,and Wen Zhen vividly shows the plight and escape of the "post-80s" in the context of the times with a unique narrative language.The fourth chapter summarizes the meaning and limitations of the theme of escape in Wen Zhen’s novels.The meaning of the first section of the theme of escape includes two parts:literary significance and practical significance,which is embodied in the inheritance and development of the theme of escape in the history of Chinese literature,and the practical significance is to expose the symptoms of the times and show the psychological transformation of the "post-80s" youth.The second section escapes from the limitations of the theme,pointing out the repetitive dilemma and lack of innovation caused by the escape from the theme,and at the same time,limited to personal experience,lack of deep excavation,and failure to conclude that enlightening solutions are the limitations of Wen Zhen’s novel escape from the theme.
