A Report On The C-E Translation Of Aircraft Leasing Principles And Operations(Chapter 5)

With the deepening of global economic integration,China’s aviation industry has rapidly developed and complies with the market trend.As a more flexible,economical way of financing,aviation leasing has dramatically promoted the overall development of the aviation industry.In the process of international aviation leasing business,a professional and accurate translation text of an aviation leasing contract will vigorously promote the industry’s commercial activities.At the same time,the translation of the Chinese-English text on aviation leasing will also boost,to a certain extent,the exchange and communication between China’s aviation leasing industry and the aviation leasing industry of the world’s developed countries.This paper is a helpful report on translating Chapter 5,“the Principles and Practical Operations of Aircraft Leasing” from Chinese to English.The translator takes Peter Newmark’s semantic and communicative translation theories as a primary point to construct the corresponding analysis framework.Through summarizing and sorting out,the translator discovers the translation strategies and techniques of information-based texts of aviation leasing,which will provide references for the translation of contractual texts in the field of aviation leasing and then help the development of the whole industry.This report on translation practice consists of four main chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the translation task and presents the purpose and significance of choosing an informative text on aviation leasing.Chapter 2 mainly includes the steps of translation practice,in which the translator initially completes the translation of the target text through three steps: preparation before translation,difficulties in translation,and translation proofreading.The translator introduces the selected semantic and communicative translation theories in the preparation stage.Chapter 3 analyses the applicability of the selected theories in guiding the translation of the target text from the perspective of informational texts,as well as the representative cases encountered in the translation process.In the concluding part of Chapter 4,the translator focuses on describing the gains and inspirations gained from this translation practice and shortcomings in the translation process in terms of specific words,phrases,and texts.In the whole process of the translation practice,the translator,guided by Peter Newmark’s semantic translation theory and communicative translation theory,chooses translation strategies such as direct translation,paraphrasing,and translation methods like text addition,subtraction,syntactic conversion or splitting and so on,in order to faithfully convey the ideas of the original text.Finally,based on a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the translation of aviation leasing texts,the translator believes that the semantic and communicative translation theory is of great significance to the translation of information-based aviation leasing texts.
