From the primitive slash-and-burn agriculture to the modern automatic production,from dilapidated caves to towering buildings,the progress of the science and technology is in a relentless march,and the fourth industrial revolution is just around the corner.Since the first industrial revolution,human beings have been no longer directly seeking things from nature but began to create various high-precision instruments to replace manpower.Now,artificial intelligence technology is the top priority for all nations.The source text,2016-2019 Progress Report: Advancing Artificial Intelligence R&D is the first progress report of the US government on AI research and development.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to translate this file.In terms of the text type of the source text,although it is a government text,it still belongs to the scientific text in general,while also enjoying some remarks with nonscientific features.From the perspective of text type theory,it generally belongs to the informative text.The translation task of the source text has the following difficulties: the complex stylistics,the unintelligible proper nouns,and the intricate long and difficult sentence structures.During the translation,the translator first used machine translation to simplify the process,then adopts the CEA framework proposed by Professor Li Changshuan,and fills it with several translation theories and translation strategies that learned during his postgraduate study,so as to analyze and revise the ML version.In short,in the analysis and revision stage,the translator first grasped the overall style of the original text according to the text type theory,then accurately absorbed the words phrases and structures of the source text,with the help of various internet resources.After that,the translator smoothed the expression according to the translation strategies like conversion,inversion and division.And finally,the translator made certain adaptations to the translation according to the context.Through this translation practice report,the translator adds a new example to the newly created CEA framework,and provides his own ideas on how to use the CEA framework to guide translation and write a practice report.In the meanwhile,the translator hopes that the translation of the source text 2016-2019 Progress Report: Advancing Artificial Intelligence R&D can help China achieve the standardization and booming development of the artificial intelligence industry and achieve the great rejuvenation in the age that the world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century.
