| With the advancement of technology,Neural Machine Translation(NMT)has been greatly developed and is widely used in professional texts due to its high efficiency and low cost.Nevertheless, limitations persist in NMT,particularly in its comprehension and processing of cultural differences, language habits and contexts between languages, with the translation of metaphors being the most notable. In light of this, based on cognitive metaphor theory, this report, taking Google Translate as a way to translate chapters 13 to 15 of Youth and the Crisis:Unemployment, education and health in Europe and performing Post-editing(PE)for its translation, gives priority to the improvement of the metaphor translation in this economic text during the PE.In the PE process, the translator adopts four metaphor translation strategies, namely equivalent mapping, valence mapping, substitution mapping and oxidation state mapping,to address different metaphorical translation errors in NMT from the cognitive metaphor theory.Additionally, through an in-depth analysis of the cognitive foundations underlying economic activities, the translator utilizes these strategies to tackle the cultural and linguistic disparities between the source and target languages, thus promoting the translation of metaphors in the economic text.As a result, the translator successfully achieves an effective conveyance of the metaphors, consequently elevating the overall translation quality and precision of the economic text. |
