After Le Clezio won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2008,studies of Le Clezio at home and abroad have been flourishing from multiple perspectives and at a deeper level. The French literary critic Deleuze pointed out that Le Clezio’s creation is characterized by "becoming",and his works frequently show the themes of "becoming" of animals, women, plants and molecules. The writer rejects the Western logocentric dualistic division between matter and consciousness and believes that man can meditate with the material world through intuitive experience,so it often appears that,Therefore, there is often a tendency for the protagonist to become the "becoming" of all things in nature in his work.Chinese scholars Zhang Lu and Qian Linsen have insightfully pointed out that this desire to merge with the material world has a strong commonality with the Chinese thought Unity between Man and Nature,In particular,it is similar to Zhuang Zi’s idea that "all things are one with me".which also provides an opportunity for this thesis to use the idea of Unity between Man and Nature to approach Le Clezio’s works. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part of the dissertation is the introduction, which introduces the reason and significance of the topic, the current situation of domestic and foreign research, the research method and innovation. The first chapter explores the background origin of Le Clezio’s acceptance of the idea of the Unity between Man and Nature, starting from his personal experience, the background of his time, and the specific acceptance of the idea of the Unity between Man and Nature in the East and the West. The second chapter focuses on the philosophical ontological exploration of his early works, taking into account the philosophical ideas of Parmenides and Taoism in his works such as Le Livre des fuites,L’Extase matérielle and Ourania,in order to clarify Le Clezio’s turn from the dichotomy of nature and man to the idea of the unity of nature and man.The third chapter focuses on the extension of Le Clezio’s concept of The Unity of Man and Nature from a metaphysical exploration of individual existence to a focus on the ethics of reality, focusing on the ethics of nature and the ethics of the other in his works and the ideal society in his writings. The fourth chapter discusses the influence of the idea of the Unity between Man and Nature on the language, imagery and aesthetic meaning of his novels. The concluding part of the thesis summarizes the creative shift from the inner existential exploration to the ethical concern of the outer world and the aesthetic meaning of the Unity between Man and Nature in Le Clezio’s works. At the same time,The Unity of Man and Nature in Le Clezio’s works and the sources of it that he absorbed are considered together to explore the contemporary value and relevance of his works.
