The relationship between Chinese traditional culture and traditional painting is actually similar to "essence" and "phenomenon".Painting has the same historical inheritance as culture. When the Ming dynasty was first estabilshed, painters from the late Yuan Dynasty naturally transitioned to the new dynasty, when the first Emperor of Ming dynasty ordered competent painters to serve in the court. The mainstream painting style of the late Yuan Dynasty had a profound impact on the painting scene of the early Ming Dynasty. But this kind of artistic atmosphere only maintained a short period,in order to consolidate the regime, the degree of authoritarian centralization of the ruling class increasingly deepened, and the Emperor even continued to take some political means to forcibly change the tide of painting art into elegant taste, and advocated the reversion to ancient Song dynasty which according with Zhu Yuanzhang’s slogan of restoring the rule of the previous king when he overthrew the regime of Yuan dynasty. For a time, the trend of painting art suddenly reversed.Under the threat of absolute imperial power, painters usually chose to imitate the ancient in order to avoid being imprisoned for dissatisfying their emperor by accident, which was not wrong but difficult to innovate, and gradually patterned the stereotypical painting sytle.Dai Jin was a representative painter in the early Ming Dynasty. He was born in the middle of Hongwu and really grew into a famous painter in Xuande to Zhengtong.Dong Qichang,a calligrapher and painter of the late Ming Dynasty, commented Dai Jin as "the leader of Zhe Pai".Dai Jin learned Buddhist painting in his childhood, and then learned the Southern Song Academy style, especially the style of Ma Yuan and Xia Gui.Dai Jin led the way with his painting techniques and complex and diverse painting features. In his later years,he explored a brand new way from the stereotypical painting style, which influenced a group of painters, especially the painters from Zhejiang province. So Dai Jin was generally regarded as the founder of the "Zhe Pai".The subject of this study,"Taiping Leshi Tu",is a set of Ming Dynasty booklet with a very secular style, which is said to be made by Dai Jin.By analyzing the content and the origin of the "Taiping Leshi Tu",we can find that most of pages of the "Taiping Leshi Tu" have their origins, which means that the art making of“Taiping Leshi Tu” is based on the masterpieces or classic themes of previous generations. In this paper,we try to study the hiden meaning of "Taiping Leshi Tu" by correlating images and historical materials, and discuss the intention of the creation of this work. After that,we will try to prove the creation time of "Taiping Leshi Tu" through the content of the image and the support of historical materials, and then summarize the relationship between this work and Dai Jin with the evidence of the creation intention and the creation time.
