Technical texts usually shed subjective and excessive emotions and they tend to use concise and serious terms to accurately convey the logical thinking of the article,show objective phenomena and reveal objective laws.Nominalization is a common linguistic phenomenon in technical texts.Nominalized structures make texts fairer and more objective and make each sentence contain more ideological content.The source text of this translation report comes from a technical book called 5G Explained: Security and Deployment of Advanced Mobile Communications,which has 10 chapters.The source text of the translation report is selected from the first two chapters of the book,including some information related to 5G and technical requirements for 5G systems.This report endeavors to summarize the translation methods of nominalization in the text.Translating the nominalized structures in scientific and technological texts will help us understand the characteristics of scientific and technological texts and the function of this language phenomenon so that we can better understand the text.This paper analyzes the translation methods of nominalizations derived from words phrases and clauses.There are three translation techniques of nominalizations from lexical derivation: literal translation,extension,and conversion.Conversion is adopted to translate nominalizations derived from phrases.Nominalized phrases can be converted into verbobject structures,verbs,or verb phrases according to different situations.Nominalized structures derived from clauses are converted into subject-verb structures in this report.
