The purpose of this thesis is to explain Deleuze’s response and solution to metaphysical problems through his "Transcendental Empiricism",that is," L`être est univoque ".In an atmosphere of The Times,Deleuze and Heidegger both ascribe the crux of traditional metaphysics to "representationalism".Unlike him,Deleuze excavates the ideological clues of "expressivism" in contrast to "representationalism" in the context of the history of philosophy, and realizes a kind of inside-out blasting in traditional metaphysics itself. For Deleuze himself,“expression” has become a core concept throughout his entire philosophical career. Therefore,we will focus on Deleuze’s early philosophical texts, from the three aspects of expression, univocity and transcendental empiricism respectively,Deleuze’s philosophy of difference generated from his unique understanding of traditional metaphysics. The first chapter focuses on Platonism’s self-reversal and the response to this problem in the history of philosophy to explain the key position of the univocity in metaphysics. The second chapter explains the origin and connotation of Deleuze expressionism in philosophy from Spinoza’s rebellion against Descartes’ philosophy of representation. The third chapter reexplores the real meaning of transcendental concept in Kant’s transcendental philosophy, and explains why Deleuze’s transcendental empiricism is a expression of univocity on the basis of the first two chapters. For Deleuze, difference is the principle of transcendental empiricism, and transcendental empiricism is the application of the theoretical framework of the philosophy of difference. The description of the relationship between the two is the expression of univocity: the univocity ensures that the difference is not resolved by analogy, while the expression rejects the cover of the original experience of representationalism. The expression and the univocity together constitute the core elements of transcendental empiricism, and form the theoretical support for Deleuze’s discussion of the difference. |
