Moral licensing effect refers to the phenomenon that the individual’s past moral experience will reduce the subsequent moral behavior or increase the subsequent unethical behavior. At present, university students are the main force in the cultivation of voluntary behavior,so how to reduce moral licensing effect in university students’ voluntary behavior and promote the sustainability of university students’ voluntary behavior,it is of great significance to explore the long-term mechanism of university students’ voluntary behavior,we should explore what value education intervention measures can effectively promote the long-term effectiveness of college students’ voluntary behavior. This research takes the university student as the research object, divides into two studies four experiments. The first study explores whether there is moral licensing effect in college students’ voluntary behavior and whether it is affected by different situations. The second study explores the effective mechanism to reduce the moral licensing effect, that is,to explore whether ritual behavior can effectively reduce the effect of moral licensing, and through what mechanism to achieve, explore the self-awareness in which the intermediary role and the role of moral identity in the regulation of symbols. The experiment used the recall task to initiate the moral self and the situation task to initiate the ritual behavior. The results are as follows:(1)the moral licensing effect appears in both the public and private situations under the representation of willingness to participate;(2)the moral licensing effect does not appear in the public situation under the representation of the possibility of refusal to participate; The moral licensing effect appears in the private situation.(3)participation in ritual can negatively predict moral licensing effect,self-awareness plays a part of mediating role in the relationship between ritual behavior and moral licensing, and the moderating effect of symbolic moral identity is not significant. This study draws the following conclusions;there is moral licensing effect in college students’ voluntary behavior, and the moral licensing effect is not conducive to the long-term development of voluntary behavior, the research shows that the behavior of taking part in the ritual can improve the subjects’ self-awareness and reduce moral licensing effectively, participants can leam or understand the symbolic meaning and values contained in the ritual, internalize and externalize it,and promote the continuity of voluntary behavior, besides spiritual and material motivation, the value motivation in the cultivation of voluntary behavior should not be neglected. We should explore more non-didactic educational intervention means and methods such as ritual education.
