Compared with students in other stages of school education,high school students will experience major changes in physiology,cognition,personality,emotion,sociality and so on.Their mental health status is easily affected by the outside world,and they are a group with a high incidence of a variety of mental health problems.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out mental health education for high school students for the healthy growth of students and the cultivation of national talents.The primary task of each school is subject teaching.According to the requirements of multiple documents and papers composed and issued by the Ministry of Education,when conducting subject teaching,teachers should take these characteristics of physical and psychological development of each student into consideration to conduct appropriate mental health education.Based on this,this article mainly adopts the method of classroom observation,through real-time on-site observation of the infiltration of mental health education in high school English classroom teaching,to understand the current status and problems of the infiltration of mental health education in high school English classroom teaching,and analyze the reasons behind the results.Finally,corresponding solutions are proposed to further strengthen the infiltration level of mental health education in high school English classroom teaching,to promote the improvement of high school English classroom teaching quality and the overall mental health level of high school students.This study selects a high school in X,X Province,and conducts random classroom observation according to a series of classroom observation record forms compiled by the author herself through studying the first lesson of every unit(9 units in total,so 9 texts in total)of the first,second and third volumes of compulsory English for ordinary high school textbooks newly published by Beijing Normal University Press(1st edition,2019).27 classes(40 minutes each)of high school English classroom teaching are taken as the research object of this study.The results of classroom observation show that the overall infiltration of mental health education in high school English classroom teaching is not good.These are the following problems: insufficient awareness and ability of teachers to carry out infiltration education,inactive classroom psychological atmosphere,the effectiveness of classroom management is not strong,“one size fits all” approach to students’ psychological needs,insufficient exploration of psychological resources in textbooks,failure to integrate infiltration goals,and improper selection of teaching methods.In response to these above problems,the author has analyzed the possible reasons behind them and proposed corresponding solutions,including improving teachers’ awareness and ability of mental health education infiltration,creating a good classroom psychological atmosphere,choosing effective classroom management models based on students’ actual situations,clarifying students’ psychological needs,fully digging into mental health education infiltration resources,integrating mental health education infiltration goals,and selecting appropriate teaching methods. |
