Dionysus came from Greek mythology,and he had a very close relationship with the politics,culture and religion of Athens.This paper takes physical performance as the entry point,examines the traces of Dionysus in drama and mythology,and reveals the significance of Dionysus to the ancient Greek drama.Thus,it can be argued that the ancient Greek drama was closely related to the religious belief,gender balance,city-state politics,daily life and artistic ideas at that time.The physical performance and the dramatic representation echo each other and form the dramatic landscape of a particular era.The first is the introduction.The 1 part “The representation of Dionysus in Ancient Greek drama”.It mainly discusses the representation of the Dionysus’ s body performance in the drama script,including the birth and fate of the Dionysus,the women’s dress behavior and the relationship between man and God.The 2 part“The connotation of Dionysus in Ancient Greek drama and culture”.This paper mainly discusses the connotation of the Dionysus in the drama script through the body performance,including the father-son relationship implied by the life and fate of Dionysus,the missionary connotation,the gender concept and the human-god concept.The 3 part“Sacrificial rites and theatrical performances through Dionysus”.It mainly discusses the different but related connotations of the Dionysus ritual and the theatre of ancient Greece in the dramatic characters,plots,singers,actors and the audience.
