The Lexical Interpretation Of The Bamboo Slips And Wooden Tablets Of The Eastern Han Dynasty (1)-(4) At Wuyi Square In Changsha

In 2010,a number of bamboo slips and wooden tablets of the Eastern Han Dynasty were unearthed in Wuyi Square,Changsha,Hunan Province.These bamboo slips and wooden tablets have attracted much attention from the academic community due to their huge quantity and systematic materials.According to the cleaning results,including the wordless slips,the total number of slips of the Eastern Han Dynasty in Wuyi Square(hereinafter referred to as Wuyi Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets)was confirmed to be 6862.There are a certain number of wooden slips and wooden tablets in this batch of slips,most of which are well preserved,and bamboo slips are poorly preserved.There are many bamboo slips and wooden tablets with clear dates,the earliest of which is the 4th year of Emperor Zhang of the Han Dynasty(in fact,the 2nd year of Emperor Yongyuan of the Han Dynasty,which belongs to the phenomenon of the delay of the year number),which is 90 AD;the latest is the 6th year of Yongchu of Emperor An of Han Dynasty,when it was 112 AD.It is preliminarily judged that the era of this batch of bamboo slips and wooden tablets is mainly the middle of the Eastern Han Dynasty and the period from Emperor He to Emperor An.The Wuyi slips are rich in shape,including wooden slips,wooden two lines,seals,signatures,bamboo slips,etc,most of which are the originals of official documents,covering the political,economic,legal,military and other fields at that time.There are many place names in the,reflecting the administrative division and management system at that time.The judicial cases seen are diverse,involving criminal,civil,litigation,etc.There are many crimes or criminal records,as well as those involving job-related crimes,criminal names and administrative penalties,which are helpful to understand the proceedings at that time and the terms of reference of institutions at all levels.The names of the officials seen are numerous and are the first-hand information for studying the bureaucratic system of the Eastern Han Dynasty.The records of population mobility are helpful to understand the nationality policy.The records of document administration are helpful to understand the process of county administrative decision-making in the Eastern Han Dynasty.The records of goods and land transactions,involving specific prices,help to understand the economic and trade situation at that time.In addition,there are also a small number of seals and envelopes for sealing documents,seals(signatures)that identify the contents of documents,and some names and private letters.Since the publication of the Excavation Brief of the Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets of the Eastern Han Dynasty(hereinafter referred to as " the Brief "),the academic research results on Wuyi Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets have emerged in an endless stream,involving textual research and interpretation,compilation and combination,book restoration,document administration and related political,economic and judicial research.However,there has not been an integrated work based on the lexical interpretation of Wuyi Bamboo Slips.The Wuyi bamboo slips have been published to the sixth volume.However,due to the late publication of the " 5th " "6th" ’s volume,the current research results of the Wuyi bamboo slips and wooden tablets are still mainly concentrated in the " 1st" to " 4th" volumes.Therefore,the work done in this paper is mainly to explain the vocabulary appearing in the " 1st " to " 4th " volumes of the Wuyi Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets of the Eastern Han Dynasty.Based on the relevant research results of the Wuyi Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets,we have extensively collected various analyses and interpretations of the vocabulary of the Wuyi Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets in the works of the study of bamboo slips,the history of Qin and Han Dynasties,and the study of legal history,and placed this interpretation under each entry.The dictions are arranged according to the sound sequence.Under each diction,the exemplification number(usually the collation number)is listed first,then the explanations of the various schools of thought are listed and the source of each explanation is indicated(marked in the form of abbreviations).The arrangement is basically based on the time sequence,and the notes are added in individual places.The significance of this part of the work is that it can provide a reference book for Wuyi Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets learners;it can provide an important reference for the collation and research work of bamboo slips with similar content and similar nature.Taking the diction as the core,collecting the explanations of various schools and comparing the similarities and differences of various theories,in which can reflect the development process of bamboo slips from the perspective of words.
