The Compulsory English Curriculum Standard(2022)points out that vocabulary teaching should be combined with the theme,and consciously reproduce the words learned through dialogue and discussion in classroom discourse and learning activities;let students understand and express meaning of vocabularies in specific situations;teachers should help students standardize their pronunciation in a large number of language practice activities;compared with the past,it has improved in vocabulary and vocabulary mastery.Since the new curriculum reform,English teachers pay more attention to the teaching activities design.Classroom teaching activities have become the main form of English teaching.With the specific and scientific teaching objectives,teachers are able to design the targeted and effective teaching activities,while the current English vocabulary teaching methods in junior middle school tend to be monotonous,decontextualized,"virtual target","generic goal",lack of interaction,such classes are absolutely inefficient.The BOPPPS teaching mode adheres to the concepts of goal oriented,participatory teaching,effective teaching and cooperative learning,and the teaching implementation path proposed by the new curriculum standard-the concept of English learning activities.There are great similarities in teaching concepts.Therefore,in this context,it has its own high research value.This study attempts to explore the application effect of BOPPPS teaching model in junior high school English vocabulary teaching.In order to verify the effect of BOPPPS teaching model,112 students were randomly selected for comparative experiments.They are from two classes of a middle school in Yan’an.This study explores through above research tools,questionnaire,interviews of teachers and vocabulary tests.It based on the goal-oriented to explore the following two questions:(1)How to conduct effective teaching design in junior high school English vocabulary teaching?(2)How is the junior high school English vocabulary teaching based on BOPPPS teaching model applied to real teaching and how it works?Through a semester of teaching experiment,the results of the two classes were compared and analyzed,and combined with the data results obtained from other experimental tools.The experimental results show that:(1)The goal-oriented BOPPPS English vocabulary teaching can provide a complete framework for each process of teaching,it is easier to operate and makes the vocabulary teaching more integrated and logical.(2)This model adheres to the modern educational concept,it can cultivate students’ learning ability by highlighting their dominant position in the classroom.It improves students’ classroom participation and teaching efficiency.(3)Based on the BOPPPS English vocabulary teaching in middle school,students are able to understand,remember and apply vocabulary better in the specific context.They can acquire knowledge in the interaction of equal communication between teachers and students,and apply knowledge in the process of exploring in cooperation with peers.In addition,it is gaining more and more students and peer teachers’ acceptance.Each of class teaching activities according to the BOPPPS teaching model can improve the efficiency of teaching design and enhance the teaching confidence.Teachers should grasp the essence when they apply this model,but do not stick to the steps,according to the need to explore the application.
