Research On The Aesthetic Psychology Of Western Absurd Art In The 20th Century

Absurdity is a universal feeling of loneliness,anxiety,despair and metaphysical depression in western social psychology in the 20 th century.In the 1920 s to 1970 s,absurdist art concentrated on expressing this absurdist psychology in the form of anti-art,anti-literature and anti-drama,which was represented by the absurdist drama prevailing in France in the1950 s,including some modern paintings,sculptures and American "black humor" novels.Through the high integration of absurd theme and technique,absurd art subverts the traditional aesthetic psychological model and gives people a sense of extremely disharmonious contradiction and paradox.Art always acts on the human spirits,and is also the product of them.This study tries to systematically analyze the aesthetic psychology of absurd art from the angle of art psychology,on the basis of fully respecting the artistic facts and clarifying the theoretical research category of art,organically combining with the research results of psychology.The content is divided into four parts: The first part firstly sorts out the tradition of absurdity in Western art.Absurdity originated in the ancient Greek period and gradually became an independent aesthetic category with the emergence of modern art.Secondly,it investigates the philosophical foundation of absurdity and explains the ontological connotation of absurdity endowed by existentialist philosophy.Finally,it defines the concept of absurd art from three angles of creation concept,theme connotation and form technique,and makes clear the research object.The second part analyzes the aesthetic psychology of the absurd art.It makes clear the basic characteristics of its aesthetic psychological structure at first.Because the absurd art breaks the traditional artistic conventions and does not accord with the psychological expectation of the aesthetic subject,it causes the difficulty of acceptance.Then it makes a concrete investigation of the aesthetic psychological characteristics of the absurd art.The absurd art frustrates the aesthetic cognition activities of the subject,thus causing a sense of strangeness and absurdity and bringing the experience of polysemy in aesthetic understanding.In terms of aesthetic emotion,it deconstructs the traditional sense of tragedy and comedy,which is black humor mixed with both.Finally,absurdist art is isomorphic with subject psychology in a tortuous way,bringing a kind of aesthetic pleasure of sudden enlightenment and transcendence.The third part analyzes and summarizes the aesthetic psychological causes of absurdist art via investigating the background of western society.In the 20 th century,the world war and the oppression of capital monopoly,the spiritual crisis caused by the loss of religious belief and rationalism,and the catalyst of irrationalism philosophical thoughts jointly affected the western social psychology,which finally led to the birth of absurd art and made it accepted by the public.The fourth part summarizes and explains the aesthetic significance of absurd art.Absurdist art has a certain positive influence.It subverts traditional artistic concepts,innovates expression techniques,and exposes and satirizes various problems existing in western society.Meanwhile,it reconsiders the fundamental meaning of human existence in order to awaken people to face reality,resist and transcend absurdity.However,absurd art also has some historical limitations.It is the product of the specific social background in the west and has a strong tendency of individualism.Through the above investigation,a comprehensive analysis of the aesthetic psychological characteristics and laws of the absurd art can be made,its causes explored and reasonable evaluation given,in order to provide a theoretical basis for aesthetic characteristics and broaden the research horizon.
