The Identity Narration Of Contemporary Figurative Painting

"Identity narrative" refers to the interpretation and construction of individuals or groups in society in the cultural context."identity" or "identity narrative" exists through implementation and behavior,and is the result of people’s self-construction.This paper takes "identity narrative" as a clue to explore the relationship between identity and narrative implied in contemporary figurative paintings,and takes Karin Mamar Anderson’s works as an example for analysis.Karin Mama Anderson is a Swedish contemporary artist with international influence in recent years.There are several obvious tendencies in her works,including the attention to daily life,the living conditions of the middle class and the description of women’s emotions,and the emotions of sentimentality and indifference spread in her works.This paper analyzes Anderson’s artistic exploration and painting language,studies her creative sources,creative methods and artistic characteristics,and analyzes the hidden implication of personal "identity" in her works through the intervention of theoretical knowledge.The first chapter clarifies the definition of "identity narrative" with Semir.This paper expounds His views and the relations among language,power and narration under the social construction theory.The second chapter analyzes the creative characteristics of contemporary figurative painting and the influence of "identity" on artists’ creation,and compares the figurative paintings of Peter Doig and Avigdor Arikha with Anderson.The third chapter explores the artist the selection and use of images,and analyze the Anderson works in the image of the illusion of personal identity and cognition,the fourth chapter as a focal point of this thesis respectively by the resurrection "neoclassicism",jung’s theory of personality,outsider perspective on analysis of the construction of identity in her works and rendering.The fifth chapter discusses the influence of "personal identity" on the author’s creation."Identity narrative" is through the use of many words tool to practice,and the process of artistic creation is also practice the behavior of "identity narrative" one of the means,personal identity and artistic creations,such as Anderson’s work throughout the concept of "identity",Anderson’s works are roughly divided into three categories,daily,nature,character.The description of daily life reflects her class status.She describes the residential space with tender colors and enjoys the quiet living state.However,there are some people who have fantasies about life and destroy or escape from the threats in daily life by means of violence.The description of the scenery expresses her loneliness in the present,rendering the picture with sentimental tone,using the scenery to amplify her personal feelings.In the description of the characters,she hardly depicts the facial features of people,and the characters are often placed in the distance or appear in the image of the back.When facing people,Anderson often wants to stay away from them or ignore them.It can be seen that "identity" has a subtle influence on the way of creation of artists,prompting them to seek appropriate painting language to express their inner feelings.
