With the development and reform of education in the new era, education evaluation has been paid more and more attention.Electronic portfolio(e-portfolio)can be used as a formative assessment method in college English writing class. In the digital age, blended learning has gradually become a new normal in education. At present, there is a lack of attention to the application of e-portfolio assessment under blended learning in China.Meanwhile, enhancing students’ self-regulated learning ability has always been one of the important goals of college English teaching. Therefore, this study attempts to apply e-portfolio assessment to the college English writing class under blended learning, and to explore its effects on students’ self-regulated learning ability in English writing, aiming to enrich the empirical studies of e-portfolio assessment in China and to provide reference for the evaluation of college English writing under blended learning. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of e-portfolio assessment on college students’ self-regulated learning ability in English writing under blended learning and answer the following three questions: 1)What are the effects of e-portfolio assessment on students’ self-regulated learning ability in English writing? 2)What are the effects of e-portfolio assessment on students’ English writing performance? 3)What is the students’ attitude towards the effects of e-portfolio assessment on their selfregulated learning in English writing? The participants of this study were 50 sophomores of non-English majors from a foreign language university in Beijing, including two classes, which were divided into the experimental class(EC,n=23)and the control class(CC,n=27).Blended learning was adopted in both classes.Based on the reality of the sample size, the t-test which is suitable for small sample size was used to analyze the data in this research. Before the experiment, the researcher conducted a pre-survey of self-regulated learning ability in English writing and a pre-test of English wiring performance in the two classes, and confirmed that there was no significant difference in their self-regulated learning ability in English writing or English writing performance before the experiment.During the experiment, both the EC and CC were required to finish four rounds of English writing tasks. The e-portfolio assessment based on Chao Xing APP was used in the EC,while there was no intervention in the CC.The total duration of the teaching experiment was14 weeks. In addition, questionnaires and semi-structured interview were also applied in this study to explore students’ self-regulated learning ability in English writing and their attitude towards the effects of e-portfolio assessment on their self-regulated learning in English writing. The results showed that: 1)There were significant differences in the overall selfregulated learning ability in English writing between the EC and CC,and the overall self-regulated learning ability in English writing of the EC improved significantly than that of the CC.The analysis of the three phases of self-regulated learning showed that there were significant differences between the EC and CC in the forethought phase and the performance phase, while there was no statistically significant difference in the selfreflection phase.2)There were significant differences in English writing performance between the EC and CC.Besides, the intra-class analysis showed that the scores of both the EC and CC presented statistically significant differences between the pre-test and post-test,while the scores of the EC were significantly improved than that of the CC.3)The results of questionnaires and semi-structured interview showed that students held a positive attitude towards the effects of e-portfolio assessment on their selfregulated learning in English writing, and thought that the mutual evaluation and feedback were helpful to improve their English writing learning. This study explored the application of e-portfolio assessment in college English writing class under blended learning,so as to provide a feasible reference for the teaching evaluation of college English writing under blended learning in the digital age,and to help promote the reform of education evaluation in the new era.
