"V ye V bu C" is a syntax format commonly used in modern Chinese, which is composed of two regular terms of "ye" and "bu" and two variable terms of "V" and "C".This form subjectively emphasizes that the action itself or its result or trend cannot be realized or should not be carried out. There is little systematic research on it in the existing literature.Based on the research of the predecessors, this paper mainly describes and analyzes it systematically from the perspective of three plane grammar theories, and compares it with related formats,so that we can deepen the understanding of "V ye V bu C" format. This paper is divided into seven chapters:The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly introduces the research object and the significance of the topic selection, shows the current research status, summarizes the shortcomings and improvements of previous research, and explains the research theory and method and the source of corpus to be used in this paper.Chapter two analyzes the component features and syntactic functions of "V ye V bu C".It is found that "V" is mostly a monosyllabic verb representing specific actions, while "C" is mostly a result or trend, and "ye" plays a correlation and emphasis role. The most important syntactic function of this format is to act as predicate. It is believed that "V ye V bu C" should belong to "verb copy topic contraction sentence".The third chapter analyzes the semantic features of "V ye V bu C".Firstly,it clarifies the semantic functions of the front V and the back V,and believes that the front V is referential and the back V is declarative. After that, the logical semantic relations between "V" and "V bu C" are analyzed, which are embodied in unconditional concession and virtual concession relations. Finally, the overall semantic characteristics of "V ye V bu C" format are analyzed, which are embodied in emphasis meaning and full negation meaning.Chapter four first analyzes the pragmatic features of "V ye V bu C",which is mostly used in oral style and can be used in dual and parallelistic figures of speech. After that,we study its pragmatic functions, including the subjectivity of expression, discourse cohesion, highlighting focus and antianticipation. In the end,we investigate its additional expression function which mainly expresses negative emotion under the specific context.Chapter five analyzes the generation mechanism and cognitive motivation of "V ye V bu C".The generation mechanism of this format is mainly "link" ellipsis, compound sentence contraction and topic copy.It is mainly formed by the economic principle of language, the iconicity principle of language and the cognitive principle that "background" precedes "focus".Chapter six compares "V ye V bu C" with the affirmative form "V ye V de C" to describe and explain their asymmetric performance. At the same time,by comparing "V ye V bu C" with "V dou V bu C",which has some commonality in terms of semantically, this paper summarizes their differences in syntactic, semantic and pragmatic features. The comparison and analysis with related formats deepen our understanding of the characteristics of "V ye V bu C" format. The seventh chapter is the conclusion, which summarizes the main points of this paper and explains the innovation and existing problems of this paper.
