The Reappearance Of Aura: Problems And Countermeasures In English Translation Of Nianhua From The Perspective Of Cultural Transmission

As a unique and traditional folk art in China,New Year pictures have blossomed everywhere in China,with a wide variety and different styles.As the epitome of Chinese traditional folk culture,the cultural content of Nianhua covers all corners of social life in the historical background,including festival culture,religious culture,folk beliefs and other aspects.In the context of "Chinese culture going global" and the in-depth development of intangible cultural heritage work,the translation of Chinese texts of Nianhua into English is undoubtedly an essential part in the process of exporting Chinese excellent culture.However,due to the unequal cultural context,functions and other aspects between China and the West,the text of Nianhua inevitably faces the risk of changing and losing the cultural information carried by the Nianhua in the process of English translation and dissemination,and only fragmented cultural images can be transmitted to the outside world,thus causing foreign readers’ incomplete understanding or even misunderstanding of Nianhua.This study takes the Chinese-English and English-language books related to Nianhua as the research object,and makes a comprehensive study of the "loss" of cultural connotation in the Chinese-English translation of the contents of Nianhua.The English translation of Nianhua is affected by various forces both inside and outside the text.This paper analyzes the role and behavior of these forces in the formation of English translation of Nianhua,and explores the internal and external factors that lead to the loss of cultural connotation of English translation of Nianhua.Finally,from the internal reasons such as translation methods and the external reasons such as multi-party cooperation and translation process management,the paper gives countermeasures and suggestions respectively,providing effective strategic guidance for the practice of English translation of Nianhua and the improvement of the translation work system of Nianhua,with a view to trying to maintain the authenticity of the English translation of Nianhua,so that it can be more effectively disseminated at the artistic and cultural levels.This study is divided into four parts.The first part describes the basic concepts,the second part briefly introduces the definition of Nianhua and the cultural connotation it covers,combs the practice of English translation of Nianhua,and analyzes the information distortion of English translation of Nianhua.The third part summarizes the reasons for the loss of information in the English translation of Nianhua.The fourth part proposes strategies to improve the translation of Nianhua and reduce the loss of cultural significance.
