| Hanshan was a poet and hermit of the Tang Dynasty,the discussion of Han Shan in the academic circles mainly focuses on the content and version of the poem and the birth and death year of Han Shan himself,and the discussion of the image of Han Shan is slightly insufficient.This paper intends to explore the distinctive features and cultural connotations of the evolution of Hanshan’s image from the perspective of the evolution of Hanshan’s image.In the introduction of this paper,the current state of research on Hanshan and Hanshan’s image is explained,thus demonstrating the feasibility of this topic.In the first chapter,the original image of Hanshan and the Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism contained in his poems are discussed,as well as the Later generations ’acceptance of the image of Hanshan poet.In the second to fourth chapters,the image of Hanshan is divided into three main parts: Wenshu,the mad monk,and the immortal of harmony.The formation of Hanshan’s image of Manjushri is attributed to the flourishing of Buddhism and the development of the belief in Manjushri during the Tang Dynasty,as well as the theoretical support provided by the Buddhist incarnation theory and the strong religious atmosphere of Tiantai Mountain,where Hanshan lives.The image of Hanshan as a mad monk is inseparable from the situation of sectarianism and ideological development in the Tang Dynasty.The rebellious mood in Hanshan’s poetry not only reflects the contradictions within the Tang Dynasty religion,but also starts the trend of mad meditation in later generations,showing the self-awareness of publicity and breakthrough of the color of authority.The image of the Hehe immortal underwent a process from individual to group to individual again,with Hanshan taking over the role of the god of harmony and assuming the functions of generating wealth and profit,persuading and educating.The change of Hanshan’s image reflects the relationship between personal image and cultural shaping,and the image of Hanshan in different periods has its own focus.The evolution of Hanshan’s image is a microcosm of many traditional Chinese divine figures,reflecting the image preferences of religion and folklore for characterization. |
