| News not only conveys information,but also conveys a certain attitude through language.Positive discourse analysis advocates to treat things with a positive attitude,hoping to promote the construction of a harmonious society through discourse analysis.Taking attitude system as the theoretical framework and 35 pieces of news reports on rural revitalization from China Daily as the research objects,this study makes a positive discourse analysis of the attitudinal resources in rural revitalization news reports.We firstly use UAM Corpus Tool to identify,classify and calculate the attitudinal resources contained in these news reports,trying to explore the attitudinal resources that reflect the attitudinal tendencies of the language users in the rural revitalization news reports.On this basis,a positive discourse analysis is carried out on the attitudinal resources contained in these news reports to interpret the positive discourse meanings conveyed by them and explore the positive effects achieved by these positive meanings.This study mainly answers the following three research questions: first,what is the distribution of attitudinal resources in the rural revitalization news reports? Second,what positive discourse meanings are constructed by the attitudinal resources in the rural revitalization news reports? Third,what positive effects have been achieved by the positive meanings of attitudinal resources in the rural revitalization news reports?The results are as follows: first,the distribution of the three subcategories of attitudinal resources in the rural revitalization news reports is unbalanced.Among them,judgment resources are the most used,followed by appreciation resources and affect resources.Second,affect resources mainly focus on expressing that rural people’s pleasure and good expectations for agricultural and rural development,enhancing people’s sense of satisfaction and security,and they are full of confidence in the realization of rural revitalization.Judgement resources mainly focus on expressing that the ability and determination of the Party and the government to promote the rural revitalization strategy,which shows that the Party and the government are always responsible for all the people,and also shows the unremitting efforts of the rural people to pursue a better life.Appreciation resources mainly focus on expressing that rural revitalization is of great value and has made a series of achievements,such as industrial integration,agricultural modernization and so on,which have made remarkable progress so as to promote the development of agriculture and rural areas.Third,the positive meanings of attitudinal resources in the news reports mainly achieve three positive effects: firstly,they shape a positive national image and show that China is a capable,persistent and responsible country.Secondly,they shape a positive image of the rural people,showing their optimism,confidence and diligence,and unremitting efforts to achieve a better life.Finally,they show that the rural revitalization has made remarkable achievements.By combining the attitudinal resources and the positive discourse analysis,this study shows the attitudinal resources in the rural revitalization news reports and reveals the positive discourse meanings conveyed by them and the positive effects achieved by these positive meanings.This research not only helps the public to understand the rural revitalization strategy and increase their attention to the rural revitalization,but also is conducive to spreading positive thoughts and shaping positive images,enhancing people’s confidence in realizing rural revitalization,and promoting the construction of a harmonious and wonderful society. |
