The Synaesthetic Cognitive Model Of Emotional Metaphor In Modern Chinese And Its Uyghur Translation

Emotional metaphor refers to the understanding and expression of complex and abstract emotional concepts by referring to spatial orientation or some simple and familiar concepts in daily life.Synaesthesia is a metaphorical expression.The concepts represented by the source domain and the target domain are divided into two different senses.The concept of B sense is used to express the concept of A sense,so as to achieve a novel and concise expression effect.Emotional metaphor is universal across languages.The study of synaesthesia cognitive model of emotional metaphor can enrich the theory of emotional metaphor and provide a new reference for synaesthesia research from the perspective of cognitive linguistics.This study mainly analyzes the synaesthetic cognitive model of four basic emotional metaphors of ’ joy,anger,sorrow and fear ’ under the image schema theory from the cognitive perspective,and examines the translation in Uyghur.To help us better grasp and express emotions,so that language expression to express personal feelings to initiate a more positive effect.Through investigation,it is found that there are synaesthesia cognitive patterns mapped by different sensory source domains,and the frequency of occurrence of cognitive patterns of five sensory source domains is different,from high to low: touch > vision > taste > hearing > smell.This further proves that the cross-sensory transfer of synaesthesia proposed in synaesthesia theory is not disorderly,but has certain rules,and the feeling of low-level senses is more frequent as the source domain of metaphor.At the same time,based on the investigation of multilingual corpus,we believe that the synaesthesia cognitive model of emotional metaphor is universal in language typology.In Uyghur translation,according to the different methods adopted in translation,this study divides the translation methods of synaesthesia emotional metaphor into three types: isomorphism of synaesthesia,heterogeneity of synaesthesia and lack of synaesthesia.The innovation of this study is that the positioning of synaesthesia is not just a special rhetorical phenomenon,but should be regarded as people’s general way of thinking and cognition,which has its objective physiological and psychological basis.People will understand and describe abstract emotional States with hearing,smell,vision and taste.The cognitive model of synaesthesia can be mapped from sensory domain to emotional domain,which enriches the theory of emotional metaphor and provides a new reference for the study of synaesthesia emotional metaphor from the perspective of cognitive linguistics.
