A Study On The Contradiction Between Fantasy And Reality In Microfilms

With the development of the film industry,the improvement of audiences’ movie-watching experience and the perfection of film theories,conventional film shooting techniques are difficult to present vividly and incisively the ethereal and illusory themes of fantasy films such as dreams,consciousness,etc.,because they lack the unique spatial and temporal characteristics of fantasy space.The emergence of soft focus,dissolution,superposition,distortion,dual image and slow motion and other manipulative and editing techniques make it possible to use the fantasy world and the real world to promote the narrative.Compared with the real world,the spiritual world of fantasy is more like a "second world" of mysterious elements.The conflict,collision and unity of opposites between the real world and the "second world" can provide a good impetus for the development of the plot,which is also an important reason why many excellent films adopt the setting of fantasy.The structure of fantasy space plays an irreplaceable role in shaping characters in film creation,especially those suffering from mental problems.The exploration of visual presentation of fantasy space is the top priority of the author’s graduation short film Dance.Through the presentation of fantasy space such as dreams,hallucinations,memories and fantasies,the protagonist’s silence,confusion,struggle and finally mental breakdown in a relatively closed space with the deterioration of his illness are shown.
