Rites and customs,one of the important carriers of traditional Chinese music,is a phenomenon of the state taking folk customs as the base for maintaining the rule and governing the behavior of the folk after the marriage and funeral rites and customs have been shifted down to vulgarization.Among them,funeral rituals are the link that every person must go through to transform from body to soul,so the importance that folk attach to them is far beyond other life rituals,especially in the isolated places.As the old saying goes,"The road to Shu is harder than the sky." Located in the southern part of the Sichuan basin,the rugged terrain of southern Sichuan has led to the isolation of traffic,so local rituals and customs are more intact.In addition,Chuanan is the birthplace of Taoism,one of the birthplaces of ancient Shu,and the population of Hubei and Guangzhou came to Chuanan in large numbers during the Qing Dynasty due to many historical migrations,and 25 ethnic minorities gathered here,so Chuanan contains excellent cultural achievements such as Bashu,Jingchu,Han culture and ethnic minority culture,and the rich cultural heritage has also nurtured the funeral ritual music here.Under the influence of traditional funeral concepts such as "funeral rites" and "thick burial",local funeral rites and music still retain their originality,vitality and vigor even today when traditional culture is declining.First of all,the original appearance of the funeral music of the Han people in southern Sichuan is strong,not only preserving many traditional songs such as "Wen Chao" and "Wu Chao",but also the musical activities of ancient funeral rituals,which can be seen thousands of years ago;secondly,the funeral music of the Han people in southern Sichuan is rich in variety,including funeral songs,Sichuan opera,popular music,gongs and drums,blowing suona,Western military music and nearly The funeral ritual music of the Han people in southern Sichuan,which has undergone many migrations,has absorbed the musical characteristics of ethnic minorities and religions in terms of tunes and melodies,which has enriched the musicality of the funeral rituals of the Han people in southern Sichuan;finally,the funeral ritual music of the Han people in southern Sichuan has carried the music of several Chinese groups,the choice of musical themes,the musical concepts of musicians,the use of musical instruments and the rituals.Lastly,the funeral music of the southern Han Chinese carries thousands of years of Confucian culture and reflects the local religious culture and folk beliefs in the recipient groups,the choice of musical themes,the musicians’ musical concepts,the use of musical instruments and the rituals.Therefore,the study of the funeral ritual music of the Han people in southern Sichuan demonstrates the charm of the funeral ritual music of southern Sichuan,which is a combination of many cultures;completes the lack of research on the theory of funeral ritual music in the academic field;and promotes the excellent traditional Chinese culture.Based on this,the author takes the funeral ritual music of the Han ethnic group in southern Sichuan as the research object.The first part introduces the geographical and human environment of southern Sichuan,and discusses "rituals" and "ritual music","funeral rituals" and "funeral music" respectively.The first part defines the concepts of "rituals" and "ritual music","funeral rituals" and "funeral rituals",and concludes that funeral rituals are a socialized phenomenon and that the funeral rituals of the Han people in southern Sichuan are more indigenous.The second part is to record the field research on the funeral rituals of Hejiang County,where the common music is more important,and the funeral rituals of Yantan Town,where the rituals are more important,and to summarize and analyze the commonality and characteristics of the funeral rituals of the two places.The third part is the classification of vocal and instrumental music,followed by the analysis and study of its tuning,spinning and tune,reflecting the richness of the funeral ritual music of the Han people in southern Sichuan.It is argued that the funeral blowing music of the Han people in southern Sichuan is widely used,reflecting the strong adaptability and multi-ethnic fusion of musical characteristics.The fourth part introduces the historical value and significance of the funeral ritual music of the Han people in southern Sichuan,concluding that the funeral ritual music of the Han people in southern Sichuan is a continuation of the traditional "ritual music" and carries the historical memory of traditional Chinese culture,and is conducive to the study of funeral ritual music in Sichuan,strengthening the local cultural identity and the preservation and transmission of traditional Chinese music.It is also conducive to the study of funeral ritual music in Sichuan,strengthening local cultural identity and contributing to the preservation and transmission of traditional Chinese music.
