Assessment is an important component of English writing teaching.In the current classroom,writing assessment is the weak part in writing teaching.The traditional writing assessment methods often simply judge performance based on scores,neglecting the cultivation of students’ true writing abilities.Authentic assessment not only focuses on the development of students’ knowledge,but also emphasizes the development of their true abilities.Authentic assessment unifies assessment with teaching and advocates for multiple evaluation subjects,and emphasizes the students’ role in evaluation,and drives self-reflection and ability improvement.Therefore,based on existing theoretical and practical research both domestically and internationally,this study explores and designs practical scheme for authentic assessment in order to promote the application of authentic assessment in junior high school English writing teaching and cultivate students’ true writing abilities.This study firstly elaborates on the background of the topic,and then conducts a literature review from the perspectives of "English writing teaching," "the theory and practice of authentic assessment," and "the application of authentic assessment in English writing teaching." Based on the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)and authentic assessment theory,this study follows the principles of science,integrality,operability,task orientation,subjectivity,and authenticity to design the authentic assessment scheme for junior high school English writing teaching,with the implementation steps of determining learning objectives,designing authentic tasks,formulating evaluation criteria and evaluation and feedback.This study uses document research,case study,and interview methods.Based on the literature review,a junior high school English writing teaching authentic assessment scheme is designed and implemented.Using English writing teaching as an analytical framework and authentic assessment as the analytical element,this study analyzes the teaching process and student writing works.On the one hand,it seeks to understand the application process of the junior high school English writing teaching authentic assessment scheme.On the other hand,by combining teachers and student interviews,this study analyzed the factors influencing the teaching effect.This study adjusted and improved the teaching design and authentic assessment plan,and promoted the application of authentic assessment in junior high school English writing teaching.The study finds that the operational steps of the authentic assessment scheme are in line with the writing teaching process,making the English writing teaching system orderly.Authentic assessment runs through the entire writing process of students.Students in the English writing class using authentic assessment have good listening active speaking,active communication and discussion.Students’ writing works are rich in vocabulary,paragraph awareness and content,and their overall writing performance is generally improved.With regard to the design and application of the authentic assessment plan,this study also proposes some improvement suggestions.Firstly,the teaching design will be adjusted to include more group discussions and sharing activities in class,as well as encouraging self-evaluation and peer evaluation among students after class,in order to promote students’ understanding and utilization of the writing evaluation criteria.Secondly,it is necessary to increase the evaluation criteria indicators and perfect them as: content,organization,sentence usage,vocabulary usage,spelling and punctuation,and length of the article.Thirdly,it is necessary to increase the student’s self-reflection form on writing progress,promoting self-evaluation and self-reflection. |
