| "Bu shi A jiu shi B" is a common expression in modern Chinese.Scholars have made many superficial descriptions and diachronic studies on it.With the support of the construction grammar theory,we define that "bu shi A jiu shi B" is a "double frame and double space" frame construction and then further explore the constitutional meaning,text distribution and function,pragmatic characteristics and cognitive mechanism of "bu shi A jiu shi B".Below is a brief summary of each chapter:The introduction reviews the theoretical development process of Construction Grammar and the domestic research of "bu shi A jiu shi B" in order to clarify the space left by predecessors when they studied "bu shi A jiu shi B".The first chapter identifies that "bu shi A jiu shi B" is a frame construction.And then analyzes the properties of four elements of this frame construction.Previous researches have made it clear that the "bu shi" and "jiu shi" in this construction have lost their own negative or judging functions,and only play the role of connecting.The second chapter analyzes the semantic relationship between A and B as well as the constructional meaning.Baesd on the observation of corpus,it is obvious that there are two types of semantic relationships between A and B,including correlation and opposition.The constructional meaning of the whole frame construction can be concluded as "selection".Meanwhile,it can embody the meaning of universal and repeat and speculation in contexts.The third chapter analyzes the pragmatic characteristics of "bu shi A jiu shi B".It has the characteristic of expressing the meaning of anti-expectation,subjectivity and emphasis as well as focus prominence.The fourth chapter explores the distribution and functions of the frame construction "bu shi A jiu shi B" in context under the guidance of text linguistics."bu shi A jiu shi B" can be distributed in the positions of the starting sentence,the following sentence and the ending sentence;It can play two roles in text: cohesion and anaphora.The fifth chapter discusses the cognitive mechanism of frame construction "bu shi A jiu shi B" under the guidance of cognitive linguistics theory: it is formed due to the economy of language and conceptual integration.Due to subjectivism,the meaning of "bu shi A jiu shi B" moves from objective description to subjective evaluation in communication and expression.The conclusion summarizes the main ideas of this paper: the strong vitality of this frame construction is caused by diverse reasons,including extensive text distribution,abundant semantic functions,and the most important factor is cognitive mechanism. |
