(1)Cooperative behavior is one of the hot topics in sociology and psychology nowadays.Whether in daily life or organizational context, cooperative behavior is a key factor to improve work efficiency. Therefore,it is necessary to carry out research on the internal mechanism of promoting cooperative behavior.Previous studies have revealed the important role of emotion in cooperative behavior. However, for emotional expressers, emotional output is not only accepted by others through verbal information,non-verbal information is usually an important clue of emotional expression. In the study of cooperative behavior related to emotion,non-verbal information has received little attention so far.Emotional acknowledgment focuses on the nonverbal information of the expressive person, and conveys information about the perceiver’s interpretation of the emotional expression through verbal evaluation of others’ emotions. Moreover, studies have proved that emotional acknowledgment can contribute to the promotion of bilateral relationship.Based on previous research results and corresponding theoretical basis, this study explores the influence mechanism of emotional acknowledgment on cooperative behavior from the perspective of expensive signal theory,as well as the role of self-others overlap and emotional valence.(2)This study consists of three experiments in which the cooperative behavior of participants is measured by using the public goods dilemma game, and emotional acknowledgment is manipulated by the imaginary situation.Experiment one measured whether general emotional acknowledgment had an effect on cooperative behavior through a scale. In experiment two,self-others overlap is introduced, and the conclusion of experiment one is verified by situational experiment, and the mediating mechanism of the influence of emotional acknowledgment on cooperative behavior is explored. In study 3,we had explored the moderating effect of emotional valence on the relationship between emotional acknowledgment and cooperative behavior. The main results are as follows:1)General emotional acknowledgment can positively predict cooperative behavior. The higher the general emotion recognition score, the more individual tend to cooperate.2)Self-others overlap plays a mediating role in the influence of emotional recognition on cooperative behavior.Individuals who experience emotional recognition have higher self-other overlap and are more inclined to cooperate.3)Emotional titer played a moderating role in the effect of emotional recognition on cooperative behavior.Emotional valence moderates the mediating pathway of emotional acknowledgment influencing cooperative behavior through self-others overlap.Specifically, under the condition of anger, individuals with emotional recognition have higher self-others overlap and are more inclined to cooperate. However, under the condition of pleasurable emotions,self-others overlap does not play a mediating role in the influence of emotional recognition on cooperative behavior, and the moderated mediation model is valid. |
